Glow to Gas conversion

Has anyone ever converted a .60 size glow engine to gas? I know BME has a .90 and is making a .51, but I can't find much information aboout the .51.

Fencer,
The power to weight ratio will be a problem. You still have to use 20% oil, if you don't covert to a needle bearing rod. It will have the power of a good .40 glow engine. The ignition and battery will weigh almost half a pound. The BME 90 should run like a good glow .60 and weigh as much as a glow 1.20. You can do it, but what is the point?

Not needing to wipe down the plane. I might just use a Compagnucci .39.

The elimination of wiping the plane comes from the reduced oil used by needle bearings.
By still using the standard glow crank/bearing you still need the ~20% oil, so it will still goo up the plane.

Rather than add the weight of an ignition system, consider GGL, 2:1 Gas & Glow. Enough methanol to have just the glowplug fire it, but 2/3 gasoline... you will have to add oil to bring it back up to ~20%, more details are around if that is a route you want to go.

Other than Klotz, or chainsaw 2stroke oil, anything way cheap out there to oil up some gas for a .40 - .60 glow engine?

Sig makes castor oil, it's pretty cheap and it's the same stuff that they put in the fuel at the factory. Could you run 2:1 in four-strokes?

In most cases, castor oil has a hard time mixing with gasoline
