my engine
hi guys! this is like my fifth post on here.
i haven,t posted in here a lot so ill re introduce my self, my name is dave thornton, im 19 and from scotland. im currently studdying mechanics and had a spare engine lying around so i thought do a project building a plane. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ictures744.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ictures742.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...ictures743.jpg this is my engine which i think is a robin nb30 can anyone confirm this? right iv got some questions [sm=tongue.gif] first off has anyone got anymore info on this engine? what parts are interchangable with other motors? would a piston fit off another cc of engine? what are good carbs for this engine? ( i want to run on gas) where can i get a decent cheap exhaust for it? what tools do you guys use to put the pistons back in i thought about using a jubilee clip as a piston ring clamp would be too tall! what kind of planes would this engine suit? (bear in mind im a skint student[sm=spinnyeyes.gif] ) and lastly what kind of speeds would be expected out this engine in a plane roughly? i have never owned a plane so i dont know too much, i have owned an rc car tho. thank you. dave thornton[sm=RAINFRO.gif] |
RE: my engine
You may want to use the carb and exhaust you have on the engine for now. Look around on RCU and read and see how to make a test stand and make a prop adapter. Then place a prop on engine and learn how it runs. As you go, just ask more questions and you will get plenty of help. Have you ran the engine at all? Capt,n
