Help the challenged. Please Identify this converted weed whacker

This might be easy for you guys, but I dont know....
Can you identify this? It was given to me by an older guy who didnt want it anymore. He said he had it on a 1/4 size cub but cant remember who he got it from or what brand it is. All he said was 'Use a piece of paper to gap the coil and it will run fine' It has a 16 x 8 apc prop on it and I'm assuming its a 20-25 cc weed whacker conversion. I ran it shortly on a stand and it actually ran very nice. :D If anyone knows, speak up! Thanks - Dave |

I think it may be a Mitsubishi. Not real powerfull...but high quality. Run it on glow and get more power and loose the ignition. The exhaust is pretty crude it should have a good lightweight muffler. Another option is ot port it out . Check the timing first and use a degree wheel. Capt,n

Hi aviatordave,
I have a small (16cc)? Toro that has the coil located on the bottom of the crankcase like yours, but it has the sparkplug installed vertical instead of slanted like yours |

Thanks guys. No it doesnt have any words of origin on it....but over in RCG someone thought it might be this : Kioritz(SP) 21 cc maybe with a Zama carb
I'll google your suggestions and see what I come up with. Dave |
RE: Help the challenged. Please Identify this converted weed whacker
kioritz 21 does not have the coil in that location. Case is different on prop side.

NOT a Kioritz/Echo.

Ok...I'm not sure I have even seen a Kioritz motor. Would it help if I take the head and cylinder off and measure the cylinder wall or piston with a calipers (for displacement size)? I can add some photos if anyone thinks that might work.
Thanks for the replies! Dave |
