RE: the hovering ryobi
I keep meaning to ask you.
Did you make that landing? What type of Cessna? Why land on 17 with the wind at 270? Worst I ever did was 48 kts. at 60 degrees to the runway.... on my flight test!!! [:o] (Yeah, I passed.) |
RE: the hovering ryobi
can you tell me about th eryobi?
stock, or electronic ignition, carb, prop? thanks Bill |
RE: the hovering ryobi
in reply to aviator1977 no i did not fly in winds like that, its just a joke, but kudos to you for the 48kt wind!!! the pilot examiner i use would not go for winds like these but i did fly a citabria the other day in over 20kt winds, that was fun!!!!
the engine is a stock ryobi with stock ignition muffler and carb. it has a jag engines conversion kit and it is on a 12lbs airplane with a 18x6w APC |
RE: the hovering ryobi
Yeah, this was back in 1975, but we did the oral test, and I was sure he was going to say we would have to go fly another day, but he said "Let's go". It was an old guy who started flying in 1929, and had a bizillion hours. I was sure nervous. Coming back into Tucson International the wind was almost straight down the runway and we landed like a helicopter; zero rollout!!
Nice job on the Ryboi and the Spad. What rpms are you getting with that combo? Take care, AV8TOR |
