Is this a good conversion candidate?
I couldn't help but notice this little Briggs & Stratton four-stroke #330057196739 at the nation's largest auction website. How would this engine be for R/C airplane conversion?

RE: Is this a good conversion candidate?
Ed,
There are quite a few threads here on RCU related to Briggs 34cc conversion. The threads also give a lot of guidance on the right type of model for a four-stroke petrol egine. My engine and some of the others being converted came from the seller identified by you. The following threads are good sarting points for information. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4658598/tm.htm http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_35...tm.htm#3539242 I have not had he tme to do anythng with my conversion yet but many others have. You should also check out Prop Nut's videos of his 1/4 scale Fokker DVII and DVIII flying on this engine. http://media.putfile.com/Fokker-DVII-Sunny-Day http://media.putfile.com/Fokker-DVII...-Stroke-Gasser For me the sound is absolutely awsome for a large WW1 aeroplane. I can just imagine a 100 inch or so wingspan Etriche Taube flying on one of these engines on a warm sunny eveneing! Hope this helps. Maninder. |
RE: Is this a good conversion candidate?
Thank you very much, Maninder.
My eyes must have been tired when I bid on that engine. I assumed that it was brand new. After rereading the listing, it appears that this engine was used in marine service. Rats! Ed Cregger |

Ed, You need to get a cup of coffee. The motor is brand new and I've ordered from this guy and have received a brand new motor. The engine is now being fitted to my boat. :)
