Who's seen one of these?
 

Do any of the members here recognize or have any background (even anecdotal) with a Roper 70?
This is the first and only one I've seen.

I bought this one years ago online and was severely disappointe to learn that it wasn't really NIB as advertised. Needless to after determining that the seller had disappeared into cyberspace I put it in a box and stored it in my garage for the past several years. Lesson learned...

After reading through the conversions forum I'm thinking this may still have potential as a gas / glow conversion.
The manual indicates it's a 69cc discplacement. It appears to be a reed valve induction under the carb.
It is heavy (my scale only goes to 5 lbs) hence my intention to eliminate the giant coil and flywheel.

Who has some experience with one of these?

Me..It was called a Big Roper, sold by Gene Horner....I converted at least one about 15 years ago...You haven't seen vibration until you run one of these, the carb needles can't be set with the engine running...The con rod is 2 piece with loose rollers on the big end....

Just think how much more it would viabrate if you took that heavy flywheel off. WOW!!! Capt,n

Do you know of any good threads addressing the balancing of the rotating assembly?
I learned how to use a degree wheel to check port timing last week so now it looks like I need to learn more about balancing. I learn more here everyday...
