Hall Sensors or Pulse swich

Is there a difrance in a Haull Sensore and a Pulse Swich? The one I had is gone. I know I can get one from C&h or othere places, but I was just thinking that I could make one, but I have no idea on what it is and how there are made. Is there any one that had a idea on what they are and how there made?

Pulse switch ?
A hall sensor can't be made at home..
do yourself a favor and get one from C&H...

RE: Hall Sensors or Pulse swich

I wonder if Tellspin's reference to a pulse switch is to the non-Hall sensor used on older 3W (and maybe other ) ignitions? If so, I would not bother with it and use a Hall sensor.

Tellspin: Your related question on the Open Source CDI thread will probably get you an actual part number. You need a unipolar, non-latching sensor. Although Hall sensors are basically a specialized transistor, you simply cannot make a practical one at home, and they are relatively inexpensive to buy in the USA.
