Rotary carb question

I've got a little gas engine that runs great with the stock, although kinda small, rotary carb. The carb has a heck of a throttle spring in it, probably more than a servo could handle. There is a housing with two screws below the throttle arm, can that all be taken off to remove the spring without the whole carb flying to pieces?

Usually you can simply slip the spring off the throttle lever.
Leaveing the spring on the throttle shaft.

Thanks Ralph, but this spring can't be accessed unless you start taking something apart!

Had a simliar experiance with a rotary carb and took it apart to remove the spring. The cylinder operates by moving the barrel up and down while rotating to control the gas flow on a stationary needle valve. The whole ordeal turned into a disaster. Now looking for a way of replacing the carb with a different type of carb. You might consider getting a hi torque servo instead.

It should not be that hard figure a way to solve the problem with the spring. Set down and take some time finding the solution. I will check into it more. Capt,n[:-]

I wish I had saved some of those rotary carbs, I tossed a bunch away, I could use a cadaver right now!

Try taking the barrel out and then lift the hook on the end of the spring, up out of its slot. Let the spring relax and then cut a slot to in the plastic ridge to match the original shape but in the new relaxed position.you might want to make the location so it just goes to a closed position. This has worked well for me on several rotory carbs.

RE: Rotary carb question

I actually found a rotary carb laying around today, from my son's scooter (sorry son). I removed the two screws and pulled the lower part out, you can pull the spring out of its slot with a small screwdriver or knife blade. Instead of trying to cut a new hole for the spring, I'm thinking just cut the tang off with a dremel tool.

That sounds like a simple and logical way to go. I disposed of that spring long ago. Any ideas where a guy might find a replacement for it?
