throttle linkage.....what end to use on the carb
 

I've installed a sullivan golden rod setup to my throttle, but I cant get the arm to go fully without banging the clevis. Is there a particular method yall are using for this?

Should I just try to get a long nylon clevis? What a bout a ball link?


I'm also pretty sure I remember being told not to use anything metal on a metal throttle arm......right or wrong?

Not having enough room for the travel needed on your throttle is a pretty common problem. Having a metal clevis on a metal throttle arm is a no no. Use a short plastic clevis if you have the room. A good quality ball link is a good choice also.

look at the angle you are attached, that could cause a lack of travel.

I use a ball link on most of my throttle linkages. Another thing you can do if you have room, is to take off the original metal piece on the carb arm, and install a nose wheel steering arm. (You will have to drill out the collar in the arm to match the throttle shaft.) The arm is longer and often works better than the very short original setup.

before learning of the sterring arm solution, I soldered flat stock onto a wheel collar to get a longer arm to mount on the throttle shaft.
