What modifications are required, other than adapter in head for glo plug??? Remove flywheel, mag.

Yap, that's pretty much it. You do need to get a Walbro WT-499 carb for running glow fuel. That is what comes stock with the G23 glow version from Zenoah. Your might be able to use your existing carb, if you can open up the needles enough to meter alcohol correctly.

Thanks for info.. Engine was on a go ped with pull starter, suffered considerble damage to flywheel.. if all I have to do is what you said I will wind with a pretty cheap engine. Do you know where I can purchase a back plate and mounting bracket..

My G23 is originally a glow version so I'm pretty sure that's all you'd need.

You can make a mouting plate out of plywood. I've done this several times and they've all worked well. I've also had Carr Precision make custom mounting plates for me recently - great work. You might also check Horizon, I'm sure they have the mounting plate for G23/G26.

microsoft, the g-23 from a goped has a much larger flywheel than the airplane model which doesn't need the forced air cooling. a mount made for the plane model won't fit your engine. because the housing for the flywheel is integral with the case you might want to cut it off and use the mounting lugs on the other end of the case for the mount, the engine will be backwards but can run either direction. also the crank and bearings in these engines take a major beating when used on a scooter, even with a third bearing, you should check runout and bearing play especialy if the motor was damaged.

If you're converting to glow, you don't need the flywheel. Once the flywheel is removed, the only thing interfering with a back mounting plate would be the crankshaft extension on the back end. The Zenoah factory plate has a lightening hole that clears the shaft, so you can do the same.

Depending on what comes equipped with the goped engine, you might have to buy a prop adaptor also. I assume you have that bit worked out already.

I happen to have a factory glow G-23. Can it be retrofitted back to a gas burner?

Yes, it's very easy if you can get the parts for the conversion back to gas. Mine started out life as a G23 glow, but is currently running as a gasser. I had Terry at CH Ignition put a timing kit (flywheel and hall effect sensor) on it. That was it to run it as a gasser on CH electronic Ignition.

If you want to convert it back to magneto ignition like Zenoah originally had it, then you'll have to get the flywheel, coil pickup, ignition coil and wire, and of course a spark plug. You probably can just use the WT499 carb for gas duty. I have a feeling it's probably not an economical conversion though, unless you can find a damaged or worn-out G23 with good ignition parts on it.
