Who Does Machine Work?
 

I have 2 Craftsman 35cc saw engines that I need converted. I want electronic ignition on them both. Not at all interested in using the magnetos. Need mounts or standoffs, carb block, mufflers welded up.

One engine runs for sure. Started it before I removed it from the saw. Has carb and muffler. Other engine is just a short block. No carb. No muffler. Should run. I don't see any damage to the cylinder or piston and it has compression.


I want wrap around pitts muffler for both. I have a custom muffler design that I have drawn and will submit to the builder.

I need the carbs rotated for linkage setup. And I need some type of mount.

i sent him a ppal payment tues night and he was suppose to ship me my parts.i havent heard anything yet either.maybe sick or went out of town.im going to see if he has a phone number on his site and im going to call him.hes always gotten right back to me.ill post back.

What saw did they come from and how much do they weigh in pics.They look like the poulan 42.I think i had a poulan 36 that looked like them also.

I can't remember what model # . They came out of Craftsman 2.2 cu.in. saws.

I don't really have an accurate scale here. I'm having them both fitted with electronic ignition, so the magneto is going bye bye. The bare block engine with no carb or muffler weighs about 2.5--3lbs Just a guess by holding it in my hand. The fully assembled engine with steel muffler and magneto weighs a ton. Probably 4.5 pounds.

I have a custom aluminum muffler drawn. I need somebody to build and weld a custom aluminum muffler for me. It's a wrap-around pitts for an inverted mounted engine. It's got a pretty good size expansion chamber and some tubes and baffles inside to try and quiet it down without taking too much power away.

Here is a crude paint image of the plan. Basically, a lot of tubes with holes in them and a few baffles to make the exhaust travel a farther distance before it can get out. I'm hoping it won't be too heavy. Thin walled aluminum should work for most of it. I will only use heavier material around the exhaust flange.

Hmmm, no response from indianatinygasengines yet. He might be out of town for the weekend. I sent him a bunch of pics.


These conversions look REALLY easy to me. If I had a lathe and a mill, I'd do it myself. Anybody know of some other guys who might make a couple prop hubs and hall sensor mounts for me?

Not to take the offer from ya Ken but if your not interested maybe Scott will do it from Brillelli,these are the engines he started out converting. and still does the 42"s.He makes his own mufflers,ect...

I might buy the mufflers from Scott. I found somebody else to do the conversions.

I can make the prop hubs and hall sensor mounts..also can send some pics of my work if you want. I make (IMO) nice looking prop hubs.

My best flying buddy just snagged one of these on ebay for about $37. It's a short block without a carb or muffler. Just like my engine. He got it for $27 + $10 for shipping. I was gonna bid on it and he called me and asked me how to snipe. I sat on the phone with him and talked him through the process for sniping and he nailed it in the last couple seconds.

Lucky dawg!! If I hadn't known he was looking at it -- I'd have sniped it right out from under him. Good engine and a darn good price for it.
