Joe Nall

Is anyone from here going to Joe Nall with a converted engine?

RE: Joe Nall

I'm going to the Joe Nall, but am not taking anything to fly. I go every year as it's only about a one hour drive away from my house and I thoroughly enjoy it every year. My largest plane right now is a 76" span scratch built plane similar to an Ultra Stick. It's powered by a 42cc Poulan on gas/glow. I don't beleive it would be allowed to fly there because it's not IMAA legal. The Joe Nall is an awesome event. There was plane there a couple of years ago powered by twin Ryobis. I remember it being mentioned in the Joe Nall article in the MA magazine.

I hope to go this year. Not to fly, just to watch. I was thinking about bringing a bike to peddle around,
I understand it's quite large and this year even more because of an added runway. No full scale this year though, Bummer !!
Is it relitively flat? for a bicycle?

RE: Joe Nall

I'm not sure what you mean by relatively flat. However, I've seen folks getting around on bicycles there in years past. Obviously, where most of the action is, is going to be flat, because it's a runway. The largest hill is going back to where the main RV parking and daily spectator parking is located. I've never been to the far end of the property where the second flight line will be this year, though. Small motorized scooters and golf carts are a common site as well. It would definately be well worth the trip if you can make it.

Well, I'm going to sure try. I'm going to see about a camp site and park my pickup with an air mattress
and sleeping bag. I've seen several videos and figure I better see it in person while I can. I just wish the full
scale planes were going to be there this year.

To anyone that is going, You will have a blast, I have been going for 12 years and only death can stop me from going again. There is plenty of camp sites you can use, Mostly around the lake. If you like to fish be sure to bring your gear, We were pulling in bass over 6 lbs last year and bream over the size of your hand, It is catch and release.

Also, If you are going to camp tell them at the gate and I think it is a few dollars a day but then you can drive down to the camp site, If you do not tell them then you will not be able to go past the upper parking area.

Thanks for the tip!! Do you think I should bring a bicycle to get aroud or just walk it? Do they have food in the
morning and evening too, or just during the day? Should I bring a grill and stuff?

Bikes are a good form of transportation at the Nall. There is plenty of room for biking. Also golf carts are great. You will need to rent them before coming as we do not rent them on site. Go to the www.joenall.com web site for the phone numbers. You can also see complete lay out of the land. There are plenty of pics of the new gazebo and bathhouse (that should be finished by the Joe Nall). Camping is $10.00 per night. There is also a $5.00per day spectator fee if you are not flying for Wed - Sat. Please feel free to post questions here and I will try my best to answer them.

Thanks

Laura

What abut the food thing? If I'm camping should I plan on making my own breakfast and dinner?

RE: Joe Nall

They have coffie and sweets for breakfast, And burgers and other things for lunch, If I remeber right they do not serve dinner so bring your grill.

On Friday night they have the Barbeque, I think the cost is $25.00
