RE: 14cc Echo-x-2==Echo 28cc Twin/pic/video!
Ok my bad. I never said it wouldn't work. I was just looking at the effeciency and longevity angle.

RE: 14cc Echo-x-2==Echo 28cc Twin/pic/video!
As far as effeciency a large single is better. More Hp. more tork and higher rpm.
But these twins are real gems. They run so smooth and transition very well. Both pistons counter balance the other. Although the GT-80 is used as a race engine by rcignitions the ones I play with are great sport engines. I recently pulled a G-62 off a plane because at idle it shook the plane more than I liked. The motor mount that I knew was tight came loose in flight. I haven't flown the plane with the 62cc Echo twin yet, but I have told people to come over and watch this thing idle. |
RE: 14cc Echo-x-2==Echo 28cc Twin/pic/video!
I talked to a guy in canada a while back that had a G62 on his plane also.He converted his echo61 twin and not only said his plane didnt shake apart but he thought it at least had the same amount of power,he said maybe a hair more.But he said his plane was never smother at idle.Now he might be mistaken about it having a little more power but ya never know.The nickname i was told for the G62 is [old thumper].I bought a brand new G62 to put on my Byrons 101 T-6 im building[not yet,still hanging from the cieling].I think im going to put my echo 61 twin in it instead.Im not going to madera to race anyway.My GT80 is going on my 31% lanier staudacher,[ i am working on this though].Anyway,back to this thread,im ordering the aluminum and either acetal or G10 this week.I only found 2 places that would custom cut it.

The Echo 61 being a true Chainsaw engine would naturaly be in a higher state of tune.
I understand that the G-62 was a Chainsaw engine also, but I don't know the Make or the year. |

RE: 14cc Echo-x-2==Echo 28cc Twin/pic/video!
Nothing.Im going to make a phone call and tell Ralph to look at my pics or ill send them to him and then call him.Hes the only one i can think off that might have any info on this engine.Other than i probably have the only original one made.Since i have serial #1.Im going to be ordering the square block this week and get back on it.I also have some G10 board coming to make the intake adaptors.Should be here in a few days.The center section is just going to be an adaptor to hold both cases together.My original has a bearing in the middle.Theres quite a little bit of maching done.
