Ryan trimmer engine

I got an old Ryan trimmer engine the other day. Know markings on the engine it came off a model 285. It has a stamped rod and counter balance, rear carb, short shaft. I think it is a old 28cc. Were any of these engines used for flying, if so how did they work out.

Its the same engine as the ryobi.Put in ryobi in the search bar at bottom of this page.Its probably the 31cc.
