Redmax engine
1 Attachment(s)
A friend of mine works in management for a small engine distributor nearby. He was able to score me a gasser engine for free. The information I was given is this as a Redmax 26cc. The casing has Komatsu/Zenoah stamped on it. This is a brand new engine and has never had a drop of gas in it.
I removed the red plastic parts and this is what I have so far. Has anyone ever dealt with this brand of engine and do you think it would be a good engine for conversion? I really want to build a gasser of some type and a free engine, well that's just too good to pass up. From what I found by using google, it seems to be a very good engine and the power to weight ratio was excellent. Hope somebody here has some info and has dealt with one of these before. One thing I've already noticed is there are no needles for adjustment on the carb. Would this be a major issue? Thanks for any info. |
RE: Redmax engine

RE: Redmax engine
I buy my carbs from edwards myself as oldtimer suggested.Ill go look and see what i just bought and give ya a number from one of mine.I just bought a half dozen carbs,i know i bought 11mm.
Just checked my stuff.Buy a WT600.It has a nice large triangle shaped throttle lever and a long choke shaft.OR buy the WT289,this one has an auto choke design as when you clip it on it stays on until the throttle is advanced and then the spring lets go and choke opens.Has a very decent throttle lever. If ya go to my post that says[14ccechox2=28cctwin]or somthing like that the carb WT289,is on that engine running in the video. In this thread. |

I'll let you know how it turns out. |
RE: Redmax engine
You will also need a new Carb adaptor when you go to a walbro carb. You can get one at RC Americathey do mostly boatsbut their intake is pretty cheap. They also sell a cheap engine mount, you will need that also. Get rid of the stock muffler and get a Bennett built RC type. Finally, you will need to machine the flywheel fins down and get a Prop Hub. I can do the machining if you are interested-Lee
