mcculloch 46cc ??????
here is a chainsaw conversion i started today. i got it real cheap at a junk store. we started it up and it runs really well. the model was FR4618 and mcculloch has a history of naming them the displacement and the bar length. this one has an 18" bar so i think its a 46cc engine. both carb and mag were on the engine so conversion should be easy.
can anyone confirm what size this is. the picture shows it with a ryobi 31cc also. im going to make a better muffler and also mill the flywheel. http://mattclement.freeservers.com/ryobi/46cc.jpg http://mattclement.freeservers.com/ryobi/bothgas.jpg |
mcculloch 46cc ??????
Some McCulloch had both needle bearings on crank. This one looks like it has a ball bearing in the photo but is hard to see. Make sure it has at least one ball bearing to handle the thrust. As far as size you might have to measure it. Steve

it definately is a 46cc
how would i know if it had needle bearings? this one has what feels like two rubber pads over the output shaft on both sides.

mcculloch 46cc ??????
The two pads are the crank oil seals. From the size of them, I would say it has ball brgs. The O.D. of the seals would be the O.D. of the brgs.
