G62 ignition conversion?
 

I gather the G62 conversion uses part of the O.E. coils or something. Would it be bad to just do a straight conversion like the rest of our engines and cut off all of the mount lugs, ect. In addition to smoother running, I'm trying to get it as light as possible.

Cuttin off the factory coil does not save much weight, you still need a coil. So the engine weighs less but the plane more. Overall you save 1/2 oz and spend $50 more

Terry, just curious, do you have a prop adapter for the G62 that does away with the factory flywheel all together? If so, couldn't a guy use the CH Ignition module that has the coil built in?

That would be the lightest a G62 could be. May be less than 5lbs?

Yes we have a hub for the glow folks. But to use it for gas you neeed a timing kit and the weight is back up.

TKS, will probably go for the quick-mount. I also read about some mods for performance that were impressive. I'm confused with the description of one mod. It said to "raise the exhaust port 5 degrees". Huh? Maybe the duration?

Note anything you do to raise the HP by changing the port timing will trade HP for Torque and reduce the power band width.
What they mean is to raise the top of the exhaust port to increase the exhaust timing by 5 degrees.
