Stihl Engine Question
I have a 42cc Stihl chainsaw engine that I will be using on a airboat project and i need hub information. The engine shaft turns to the right- looking facing the shaft. Will I need to get a hub with left hand threads or will a right hand threaded hub work? Also, is thread lock required?
Thanks in advance, -Gary |
RE: Stihl Engine Question
Just look at the threads. If they spiral down to the right ,or clockwise, there right hand.If not, there left.I put a little dab of thread lock on all my engine conversions.

RE: Stihl Engine Question
Try this guy on ebay[topcat01] i buy quite a few hubs from him.Dont know if he has any left hand taps[not saying yours is yet].My stihl 35cc that came from a 019 saw has 8x1.0mm right hand threads.

RE: Stihl Engine Question
Buck1856, Which type of thread lock do you use on you hub?
|
RE: Stihl Engine Question
I mostly use the medium. The high strngth is fine but if somone wants to remove the hub ever theyll have to heat it up first.I look at it this way,if medium doesnt hold you have way to much vibration or not enough threads to screw down on,either one should be fixed.
