I talked to Bill at CH today. He tells me the Poulan 46cc with their inition conversion is swinging a 22x10 in the 7000 rpm range! That would be in the power range of the G-62!

What do any of you think about it being worth the $210.00 approx. for their ignition conversion kit?

I see these motors pop up more and more for conversions.....

I hate to say it, but with the price of the motor and the conversion..it's a lil' pricey for me....

I agree with Big Bird; I think if a person just went out and bought everything that would begin to add up fast. Of course when you look at the prices of other gas motors that compare to the power of the poulan it is still a bargain. And as others have mentioned if you were to ever wear it out you are only ~$130.00 from a replacement.
I run my Poulan on the flywheel and I havent tried a 22X10 but I have gotten close to 7K with a square tip Zinger 20X10.

Where are you finding them at that price...??? I've Been looking at local home stores and the discount houses around here and they are way more than that..

I've seen one on the front of a knock off of a Stinger...looked really great...But (sigh) he caught me with a set of ball drivers before I got it off the plane..Snort

I bought mine here. http://www.lawnstation.com/
There are also several businesses selling them on Ebay. At Lawnstation watch their specials and you can catch things with free shipping. Right now they have the Poulan Pro 46cc for 149.99 and it comes with a caseand free shipping. When I bought mine he had free shipping on the Poulan 46cc 2750, $129.99. They have a 71cc  and a 83cc :stupid: with free shipping also.

Better talk to Bill again..No Poulan 46 ever made will turn a 22-10 at 7000...A 20-10 black Master Airscrew WILL turn 7000..A 22-8 turns about 6500.......

RC is correct, RPM is with 20x10.
To many engines through the test stand in the last few weeks for Bill to remember which was what.

With a 20x10 that's still plenty of beans on the front of a sport plane....

I just like the way that the motor looks...and mounts...
Gonna rub my wallet and see if a couple of Ben Franklin's pop out..

Okay...I'll bow low on saying the price is a 'lil stiff for the conversion....now that I see where to buy the saws....It was looking to be about $500.00 plus for a new motor and the C&H goodies..

One last question before I hit the magic button on E-bay or Lawnstation....

What's the difference between the Calafornia motors and one that's not...??

Im also wondering if the "pro" model has a different 46cc motor than the standard 46cc???
There was also a guy on Ebay selling the standard 46cc model for $109 plus 14.00 s&h

i bet its....

california has very strict pollution laws and im betting the only difference is the muffler setup.

"Pro" has chrome-plated cylinder bore instead of Nikasile. It also has different carb & main bearings (supposedly better).

So what is different or better about the carb and bearings? thanks!

Anybody know what the measurements of this motor is , after the conversion.?

I think most are around 4lbs to 4.5 lbs, Depends on if you run magneto or ignition and your muffler; motor mount choice.

I'm still getting only 6600 on a 20x8 open exhaust, CH ignition. Got 8500 on a Mezjlik 18x8, but difficult to adjust for smooth idle at this light loading. Was hoping to out do my OS 160 at least. A bit disappointing.

Give it some time to breakin, some engines like a little back pressure too.

Hey Guys:

I have a poulan 46 on a 75" Edge 540 (Lots of Power) I get 7100 rpm's on a 20X10 Zinger pro prop, but the plane flys better with an 18X6-10 zinger prop. (8500 rpm's) If you have problems with Idle, check you bearing seals. Mine would run great on the high jet, but I would have to run rich on the low end to get any kind of idle. Found out the rear bearing seal was leaking. This engine will hover my Edge at 1/4 throttle. My Edge weighs 12.5 to 13lbs. dry.

That would be great if its complete; let us know. When I ordered mine I was needing a chainsaw also so I just ordered 2 saws. Then I had plenty of spare parts for the one I cut wood with.
