poulan 18 cc ?
 

what do you guys know about this wacker. i think it's a 18cc. thought i might try to put a glow plug on it and mix fuel. put it on a plane.what is your thoughts ?

it'll say the displacement on the sticker on the cover part that's over the muffler. if it is an 18cc, the port timing isn't that great... I had one that I wanted to run but it was too scored to run, I had it all ported and set up for gas/glow and realized the compression was too low to fire off (was at 60psi on the gage, and it just refused to start), so I'll use the crankcase to put another jug on at some point. this does end up being a light engine all set up though, I had mine down to under 2lbs with everything attached to it including prop, but I did kinda go extreme on trimming the jug...

thanks for the reply. the sticker is f'd up but it looks like 18cc. thought it might work for a small plane 40 or 60 size ? i got the wacker for free so y not.
Its more fun if it dosnt take ya to the bank. Im hoping i dont have to buy to much stuff for the motor .

Check this forum for the keyword frenzy i believe.I think there was a oerson here that put an 18cc engine on one.I think its the 90 size.

set up for gas/glow on a 40-60 size stick type plane would probably work fine if you trimmed the nose down to account for the heavier engine, I've thought about it myself...

I've been told it's a Poulan. I have a 21cc.

The Featherlite weedies are light. Mine weighs 36oz with steel muffler and CH ignition.

I've heard the 18cc, 21cc and 25cc are all the same case, just different cylinders and pistons. I'm thinking about buying a 25cc engine and dropping the head and cylinder on my 21cc crankcase. Does anyone know if the bolt pattern on the cylinders and cases is all the same? I'd rather have the punched out cylinder and bigger piston. Probably weigh the same or close enough to the same you wouldn't notice the difference.

I have a couple 18cc, a 21cc, a 24cc and a couple 25cc engines, I know for sure the 18cc and 24cc swap around since I have the 24cc jug and piston on the 18cc block right now, only reason it hasn't ran is there isn't a ring in it... I haven't torn down the 21cc or a 25cc, but they all have the same backplate (I think I remember hearing that there's a difference between the two and 4 bolt backplate engines)

if going for power without porting, avoid the 24cc if you can, they are LE engines (Low Emissions) and the ports are about the size as the 18cc engine, which are tiny in themselves... the 25cc has bigger ports (I had one apart once)
