Glow Driver Problem
 

I've converted a Poulan 42cc to gas/glow and it performs well - 7300 RPM with an APC 20-8. I decided to invest in a glow driver set up, but it is not working out. Seems like it does not deliver enough current to the glow plug. The plug only gets warm/hot, but does not glow red like it needs too. I've tried both 4.8v and 6v battery packs. The on/off coupling with the throttle control works good. Do I have to make my own battery pack with larger size wiring? What do you guys think?

Could you share with us what Glow Driver you have?

The type of glow driver is an Expert brand. I spent some more time "experimenting" and discovered that it is the wire size of the battery connections that was limiting the current. After I used 14 ga wire from the battery to the driver, the glow plug lite up nice and "red".:D I did not really need to use the glow driver, but if you are planning to go EI, it is another option that performs as good as EI and you still keep the advantages of gas/glow. Its what this hobby is all about!
