Deere S1400 wacker engine
Driving home from work Friday, I almost drove past a trash can with a John Deere Weed Wacker leaning against it, but the RC gods were watching our for me and I snagged it. It’s an S1400, 30cc.
I removed the case and found a nice flat backed engine, side carb and exhaust. It’s a Deere/Homelite engine. The part number appears to be UT28810. There is another reference number “2HCPS 0304AA” and possibly a date code 0502. I have not tried to start it yet, but it looks like the muffler got loose and they could not figure out how to remove the case. That took me a while, but a #20 Torx driver and the rope stuffed in the spark plug trick to lock up the engine got the shaft drive part off, so I could get the front of the case off. I took the backplate off and the inside of the crankcase looks really nice and clean; beefy conrod! So, is this a good one; or a heavy underpowere loser? <grin> BTW - with the case off, but the fuel tank and ignition, etc. intact, it weighs 4.75 pounds and I can see a lot of Aluminum I can remove. Thanks in advance, Jack – Novice conversion guy |

The Homelite 30cc is a keeper
Depending on the mods power is up to 8200 |
RE: Deere S1400 wacker engine
Here is a Deere 30cc it has no mods other than plugging the PCV and a WA167 carb and does 7600 with the 18-8 that's on the plane in the picture
And Terry that is not one of your mounts. I copied one of yours that I bought for a Mac 32. I liked the layout of the mounting bolt positions. http://image2-6.rcuniverse.com/e1/ga...4/lg-14766.jpg |

Super! Thanks for the good news. I finally have a way to let a machinist friend payback some favors he owes me. <grin>
Looks like I need to take the time to get it up and running, so I can see what it needs. Thanks again. I appreciate the fast responses. Jack Bill - congrats on the purchase too. |
