Looks pretty good

RE: super tiger 2300 on gas
Yeah, looks good Ken. What size and weight is that Edge, and what prop are you running on the ST?

RE: super tiger 2300 on gas
I have seen those and think I will stay with C&H and rcexel for now, I figure the shipping and sensers would bring the price up and I have only seen them with one size plug boot and I use 3 different sizes. I am sure they are good ignitions and have been tempted to try them but not planning on it at this time. thanks for the thought.

Try to get a RCEXL ignition from DL Australia.
If you try a RCEXL ignition you will never buy an XYZ CDI. Regards |

RE: super tiger 2300 on gas
I have several of the XYZ now too. When I first got one and was playing around with one by brushing the sensor past the magnet making it fire a spark plug,it kinda seemed hit or miss doing it by hand, but when I actually mounted it on my test engine it seemed to work as good as my other more expensive ignitions.

RE: super tiger 2300 on gas
If you guys don't mind could you tell me what kind of internal modifications you have to make to change the 2300 and the 4500 SuperTigre engines to gas. Any information or web site would be great.
Thank You |
RE: super tiger 2300 on gas
To run 50:1 oil you need needle bearings on the rod. AND you must change the crank pin, that not easy to do it right. Then you need and ignition and to make it run solid a Walbro carb
To run 10:1 oil you need to just add ignition and maybe the Walbro for better manners. TKG. RE: super tiger 2300 on gas
I machine the crank, piston, head , rod, case and make the adapters for the carb and ignitions , hard pin in crank needle bearing in rod, it takes a lot of time and work but seems to be worth it power and weight.

RE: super tiger 2300 on gas
Ken , do you do a needle in the top of the rod too ???
|
RE: super tiger 2300 on gas
no but I do some machining up there.
|
RE: super tiger 2300 on gas
Wha do you do ???

ORIGINAL: SON OF PALEFACE ORIGINAL: mpascual Try to get a RCEXL ignition from DL Australia. If you try a RCEXL ignition you will never buy an XYZ CDI. Regards In the past, I've mounted XYZ in all my engine cconversions prior to discover RCEXL. I can get from hobbycity at low pice. But it comes without hall sensor. Now, RCEXL ignitions are at same price. Maybe a little more expensive, but RCEXL comes with hall sensor, sensor brackets (two of different sizes), wires protector, you can mount the sensor in two ways according to the magnet, the plastic case is nickel plated to avoid electric noise to the receiver, the spark plug cap is better , the shrinking tube is better (it glues to the ignition wire and plug cap), the spring and connector inside the boot is better, and it's attached with two pins to the spark wire, it comes with a cap retainer (spring) at the rear of two metallic cap cover halves .........., you can choose your spark plug cap size (for 1/4*32, CM-6, BPRM6 or BRM6A spark). Also i have at least 10 XYZ ignitions broken, sended to me to repair, but i've tested with a pulser, and only give first two sparks, then dies. The cost for repair is more than a new RCEXL ignition. Time ago i begin to make test with glow-gas conversions, and magneto-CDI conversions. Also i'm repairing many engines with expensive CDI (single and twin) and now i only mount RCEXL. Check my youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/mpascualslp Some engines are tested with XYZ CDI, but now ive switched ALL to RCEXL. Regards |

RE: super tiger 2300 on gas
Just wondering what carb model you were using?
I'm in Australia and will probably have to import the caby, and am thinking of the 2300 conversion as we get them here for about $200-00au, + 76 for the ignition +14 for the plug. Total 290-00AU (about $230US). I'd be happy to run at 10:1 to see how it goes. If I decide to go 50:1 I have a friend who has a full CNC workshop. What would the placement of the pickup be in relation to TDC? Thanks in advance, Rob Fonhof Melbourne Australia. |
