Why'd that thread about the go-kart engine get closed???, man these moderators can be dinks sometimes, anyways It depends how big you are, 150cc will move you, i have a briggs 300cc it is huge.

If you want I can E-mail you some pictures of my kart and some dimensions. It is a propper chassi, but its been modified from a r/h shaft to a l/h shaft. A good engine would be a honde gx160. They have classes just for those engines. My e-mail is [email protected] I had an old briggs 3.5-4.5hp engine from the scrappy. I bust it like, but what the hell. 6000 revs. must be worth it. (only cost a tenner)

I'm sure it got closed because it doesn't appear to have anything to do with RC at all. Neither does this one.

There are plenty of GoKart forums where a post like that will be more appropriate. This "Engine Conversion" forum is for RC applications only.

I agree. If it's not concerning a conversion (or rc at all), then post it somewhere else. If it can be converted, then bring it on! 300cc rc plane engine, yeah boy!

Yeah i wonder if they make an ignition that would be suitable for this thing???, if so i could do some griding and it would be pretty light enough to fly.

Well considering this is an engine forum, why cant i post something like this here? There is a gas engine for sale and wanted forum, where people sell lawnmower engines and the like. What is wronge with this?

Oh and how fast would a 150 cc push a go-kart? 300cc?

Since when does a go-kart qualify as being rc related? This area is for those discussing the conversion of "Other" types of engines for rc use, not go-karts. If you want to talk karts, go to a kart forum. Now, you can also post this kind of stuff in the Clubhouse as well where things outside of rc are discussed. Another member and myself did discuss karts, but it was done through the private message system!

I think gokart engines share a lot in common with the ever bigger gassers that us RCers tend to run. It'll be just fine if somebody ask about a gokart engine converted to RC-use; asking where one might find Gokart chassis and such, however, is not.

Heck if anybody has converted a 1200cc Kawasaki DOHC motorcycle engine for RC, I would love to hear it. Otherwise, general questions about motorcycles would reciever much better reception at the many motorcycle related forums. Likewise for gokarts.

Okay, I'll quit now. 'Starting to sound like a moderator... ;)

Had a mac 101 some time ago, is a very hi rpm engine and a bit heavy for a r/c use. Was procured for a ultralight project. Later picked up a Yamaha 100 used on a Quicksilver U/L, is a big engine for a mere 100cc, also too heavy. Sold it off to a Kart guy.

I converted 2 Mac 101 engines, one went into a 1/2 scale Cub, the other is still unused...Also worked on a West Bend 8.2 Kart engine conversion.. Both worked well, not too shaky..The West Bend turned a 22x25 about 7800 rpm....The West Bend weighed about 8 1/2 lbs. and could be made to use 3 carbs, one on each side and another on the bottom.The linkage would be a nightmare.....started easily by hand with a syncro spark module in the ignition circuit....
