Hi,

What's everyone using for an engine mount for the Poulans?? If you are buying them, where do you get them, and anyone have pics?

Thanks,

The H9 mounts are the best but H9 has been listing them as OUT OF STOCK.

DuBro makes some large isolation beam mounts that will work also if you cannot get the H9 ones.

Poulan Mounts??

I've seen pictures of various Poulan Engines - Some have mounting lugs on the side like normal RC engines, and some (like mine) don't. I made my own mount from an aluminum push plate (the kind on doors where you push to open) from the local home renovations store. I don't have pictures of it, but it looks very much like this one:

I trimmed the back cover plate to match the engine profile, then placed the mounting plate over top and drilled the holes to match. I then replaced the bolts with ones which were 1/4 inch longer and went right through the mount and cover plate, into the engine casing.

I prefer the GP 1.20-1.80 composite mounts. It's lighter and adjustable without changing the mounting hole positions. It's plenty strong enough to handle the 46cc.

BTW, I don't see how you could use a backplate mount for the Poulan chainees.

Poulan

check out rcfaq.com, look under weedwacker conversions, lightened engine..Take a 3" round block of 6061 and mill and turn away anything that doesn't look like a mount...Nope, I don't convert any more Poulans, and don't make mounts....

The original post from av8tor1977 didn't state which Poulan engine in question. Everyone automatically assumes the larger 42cc chain saws, but there are alot of string trimmers using Poulan engines too. My 25cc Poulan is from a WeedEaterŪ, and uses the mounting style I mentioned earlier. With a side carb and side exhaust, it gets the engine much closer to the plane's firewall, giving the weight less leverage to shift the CG.

<Edit>

If you don't want to make your own backplate mount, they can be purchased from numerous conversion sources, including CH-Ignitions $11.95:

Thanks for all the input guys....

Sounds like the GP mount is what I would like to use.

Take care,
