Poulan 33cc chainsaw conversion
Hi, I have a Poulan 33 cc chainsaw I would like to convert to fly a RC airplane, Trouble is I know nothing about doing this. I have a few questions, Is there any companies or websites that offer conversion parts? Can I keep the stock points ignition? Do you keep the crankshaft as is, or do you cut it? Where can I find a crankcase to allow me to mount the engine in the plane? Do you use the same stock flywheel or is there a modification? Any info, advice would be greatly appreciated.

The Poulan 33,35,38,40,42,46 seris of engines have been thrashed over pretty good on here. Just do a search on Poulan and except for a weed whacker every now and then, you can read to your heart's content. There are many pictures and links to other sites.

Thanks for the help, one more question, can you keep the stock flywheel by modifing it or do you replace it?

If you are going to use the original ignition, you'll want to keep the flywheel. But it can be machined down or the fins cut down flush but it shgould be balanced.
If you use a battery ignition, the flywheel will have to be replaced by a magnet hub. Jim |

Jimmy,
This mount is the one that came with the H9 Ultra Stick 120. To my knowledge, it's no longer available. It was made nice and was cheap too. I think the Super Model company in Tiawan actually was the one who made it? Since then people have been using the biggest Dubro (soft mount) and also the big Great Planes plastic one. There's been some home made ones too. Jim |
