Hello Captinjohn, I use a snap gage to measure down in gas cylinder bores like the one shown with multiple ports. I check it is 2-3 places to assure I get the right measurements and all measurements are the same and measure snap gage with OD micrometer. I have a few rings for 36MM bores, 3W 26CC, ST 3250, Moki 210, & Echo 30CC. It is possible that i have the ring, you can email me direct if you wish but I will be gone Saturday until 7 PM MST. I will get back to you and in the meantime measure the thickness of the ring. Or just find that dimension from someone who will measure one that is apart. I just got my DLE30 all together with the new rear carb induction kit. It runs good, but I did notice the ring is still no where seated yet. It does use a pin too prevent ring from rotating. I talked with B. Carpenter who has a few DLE 30 engines. He may send a Piston & sleeve to you. The trouble is he is not feeling good at this time. I only have one DLE30 and am getting it & the my airplane ready to go. Best regards Capt,n

I will let you know...even if it does not run better. My guess it will hand start better with more compression &amp; have better fuel draw.....both depend on a very good ring seal. Capt,n

Hey I got the new Frank Bowman ring in now....man does my DLE30 have more compression &amp; a nice bouncy feel to it just cranking the engine over. I wanted to run it tonite...ran out of day lite. Tomorrow for sure...cannot wait !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Guys...I got my ignition back Friday &amp; installed it. I did take a dremel and remove 15-20 thousands off the bracket where it hits the stationary hub. That put the sensorcloser to the magnet. Anyway..got it all running good right away &amp; after about 15 min it would idle real slow &amp; rev-up instantly. The Frank Bowman pistonring gave the engine better fuel draw. It was about 10 flips to fire...now about five and she fires hard! Open the choke add a little throttle trim....away she goes. I have the rear car convesion...love how easy it is to adjust while running! I am telling you guys....Frank knows how to make a good ring for small engines.

I got to call Frank again....got to see how he is doing on his Trout fishing. We share the same passion...T. Fishing &amp; engines!!!!! Not all bad!http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif capt,n

<hr />I did a video today with the new Frank Bowman ring. I have started it 30 times in a row with one flip. I tell you 30 starts in a row does whear you arm out tho. I got a motorcycle starter....I am going to conver it to electric starter for airplane engines! Capt,n PS will upload the video! And post a link.

Well here is the video I promised. This is with New Frank Boman custom made pistonring. It Starts real good for only having about 30 min runing time now on that new ring. I have started this engine for 30 starts in a row...started every time first flip. I did a mod to the throttle plate (see Gas engines Tillotson carb) The video link is below. Best Regards Capt,n P.S. The DLE 30 is a good runner with Franks Piston ring. The rings he makes are very good and break in faster. I have not had too much extra time...have not been of much help here lately. Ido have a photo of a exhaust adapter I made so I can run a Pitts muffler on 2 of my engines...maybe other engines too! Capt,n PS I have not had time to even read the last3 AMA magizines yet! UPDATE 3rd photo is the more finished photo!

<hr />I will not be selling them...but I am learning what aluminum stock the guy has that did the welding &amp; what can be done. I am drawing up a better one (all one piece) that if thingsgoright with aprototype, withthe right pricing so he can weld them up, sell them at a price below others on the market by 25-30% and still make it worth it for him. He would probably do it. Lets face it ...people need work in the USA! Capt,n PS Inside tube is 2 sleeve spacers so bolts will not crush it.

UPDATE, I talked with Frank Bowman on the phone for some time. He is pretty busy making piston rings. He said he had a cutomer send a DLE 20 cyl in &amp; wanted a ring made for that size also. So it looks like Frank will have rings for the DLE20 also. I guess he has quite a few different engine brands &amp; sizes of rings for China made engines. But on the other hand he also has made rings for DA &amp; other engines that are very good engines to start with.

We did talk some about Trout fishing, another talentof his&amp; he isa "Pro" at. I got to learn more on that too. I am a semi-pro on Trout fishing! Capt,n

So what's the consensus on the rings supplied with the DLE-55? Are they still made from very hard metal, and not very concentric?

Will the engine still take a considerably longer time to break in with the stock ring, than it will with a Frank Bowman ring?

I don't get out to the field that often, and would prefer not taking a whole year, or two, waiting for my engine to break in. To me it's worth the $10 bucks just to expedite this process...the cooler running, and more performance, would just be an added bonus for me!

I bought a new DLE30 in early July then a DLE55 in early Aug. Both ran well from day one with excellent compression. The rings are wearing in very nicely with a good uniform appearance as viewed through the exhaust port. With all the talk about DLE rings, I expected to have to install the Bowman rings but such was not the case for these (2) engines. It appears that DLE must have improved their rings somewhat over the last year ...... they certainly improved the rest of the engines with new castings, etc.

Hi John and all,
Taking .015 off the bottom of DL cyl was not one of my better ideas.Do not do it.With no cyl gasket piston hit the top.Put on two cyl gaskets and a bowman ring.
After a short run in about five mins. Engine turned a 20x6 MAS 7800 and idle at 1200.It turned better then this with original cyl and ring. I will put the org cyl back on before week end. Got in several flights Sun. Again with the help of friends. Other DL 30 with bowman ring is doing great turns better and much better comp. I do think the new DL parts are better. The ring in this one looked good maybe two gallon of fuel through it.Will have to order mopre rings from Frank/
Used to do a lot of Trout fishing in Wind River Mts. I knew many places where you could fish all day and not see another person. Used to run to these places on a dirt bike.Them days are over(darn it).

Bill, I did not know you did Trout fishing too! Yesterday (Oct 18) was my Birthday. After a eye appointment I tried to catch a fresh run Steelhead. I di not get one hit just like the other fishermen! The water is super clear &amp; low. The barometer was high...nothing doing. I have my best luck on a falling barometer.

Well I should be able to finish my airplane &amp; maybe get in some flying before snow sets in. Take care &amp; keep healing. Capt,n PS I may have fished the lake where the Wind River starts...... Brooks Lake.....Loved it!
