I converted one of these 29cc 4 strokes, actually I should say, Ralph Cunningham did most of the work. I tossed the stock carb and experimented with larger walboro carbs. I don’t know what I ended up with but if you are interested I can get that info for you. Oh, I also did get rid of the spark arrestor from the exhaust

The engine with only maybe ¼ gallon through it spins a 18x6 Bolly wood prop at about 6700-6800 rpm, the weight if I remember correctly with ignition and stock muffler after the conversion is about 4lbs. The engine looks promising I was thinking of scratch building a really lofty wing type airplane for it, kind of real basic but just never had the time. I did get a great deal on a Sig rascal 110 from my LHS that I might try this engine in when I get some time.

Here are some pics. The carb is a Walboro WYK, I still could not get the carb number but I will look later if anyone is interested. The prop is a Menz 18x6, sorry I said Bolly.

Very nice! I bought one of those engines cheap on ebay (used), only to find that the piston had cracked and flaked off by the ring land. I did find a short block for cheap so I have a working engine and a spare short block.. I did discover that these engines have an actual cast iron liner in them - I bored the broken piston cylinder out .035" oversize. I still have to find a piston to fit or machine one. Nice to hear that it can actually swing a prop!

When you put a bigger carb on yours, did you open up the intake port? I noticed on mine that with a ~10.7mm intake port, a carb much larger than 11mm didn't seem to make much sense. Even the 9.5mm (venturi) carb I have has a larger throttle bore than the port.<br type="_moz" />

Tomservo, thanks. No I did not mess with the intake port yet, the main reason for me was to have the H/L needles, really helps in tuning the motor. I believe the carb I put on this engine is a WYK-16, it was a a bolt on to the carb adapter, the engine breathes so much better with this carb and is definitely not starved for gas. I just have not had enough time to mess with it, but I think I'm going to start messing with it again.

If I remember correctly, this engine needs you to get into the back to fill and check the oil. [X(]
There was another Troy Bilt that had a slanted wedge oil tank that looked like a problem to mount.

I am using the Chinese made ignition, RCexel, which is quite popular these days, it's actually a decent performing product.

I ran it today, still tweaking it. It's turning a Menz 18x6 wood around 6900 to 7000.
