TCI-ignition
Here you can find the schematics http://www.modelbouw.gompy.net/tci/
This is a modification of our CDI-ignition http://www.modelbouw.gompy.net/newcdi/newcdi.htm. It's a start, the PCB for this designe isn't ready yet. For the bobine / ignitioncoil you can use any smal 12 Volt car / moped type of 4 Ohm. |
RE: TCI-ignition
Bobine = ignition coil?
|
RE: TCI-ignition
Yes, sorry.

Bigboat,
I recall asking about this setup as a "tag-on" for your cdi a few months ago. Thanks for chasing it up. I have a circuit (shown once before) that I have used for many years and works well. Thought it may be an alternative using other components for the power section for some people. 3 terminal device on far left is hall effect so obviously delete this and tap into micro at the 10K ...470R junction. Also delete tacho section if not needed. (BC558) The MJ10012 is an ignition control darlington transistor and therefore needs no external flyback protection as it is "built in". |
RE: TCI-ignition
All the files are online, http://www.modelbouw.gompy.net/tci/
I change the Voltage to 6 Volt, this ignitioncoil will be smaller. You can use all the files you need from the new-cdi project. |
RE: TCI-ignition
A few errors in your pcb layout and I tried to use Layo program to rectify it but found it a little less user friendly than Circuitmaker program I normally use. So I have redrawn it using my program.
Just about to make a pcb so I will let you know how it goes. Another thought along the lines of your designs, wondering how you log the best revs versus timing advance. One would imagine a manual advance where you could vary a pot setting to adjust delay time and then see how it affects the revs. Then plot the results? |
RE: TCI-ignition
I check the PCB, put the missing C on the pCB and L into the schematic, but I can't find any layout errors.
Mark the errors you find with red, scan the paper and send it to me please. If you want to tune your engine, you can use Streetdyno or Powerdyn. Both programsare tuningdevices using a soundcard. Streetdyno http://te51levin.superjamie.net/streetdyno.html http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...treet_dyno.htm http://www.msefi.com/index.php Powerdyn http://jcdperformance.free.fr/powerdyn_me_uk.htm |
RE: TCI-ignition
O.K. ...I thought that L4 would go there. Thanks for that.
Few more errors now on your new schematic. There are two entries of C3...one on incoming filter and one on the base of Q2 Also two entries of C7..........one on input of regulator and one on collector of Q2 C6 has disappeared. I think maybe schematic should be corrected first as the layout depends on this. None of this a problem as it is easy to see mistakes. Just that it is incorrect. |
RE: TCI-ignition
There are two mistake into the schematic, there are two C7's and two C3's
C7 - 10n/400V = C6 on the layout. C3 - 220u/25V is not on located the layout, this C3 must be placed somewhere. I'll correct this two *errors* for the schematic, into the layout there are no *errors*. |
RE: TCI-ignition
I <span _fcktemp="1"></span>was reading article regarding your post for Transistor ignition Schematic in post ( http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_91...tm.htm#9219489 )http://images.rcuniverse.com/forum/u...58/Qo40866.jpg
i have seen your ignition design. i have some questio as i want to use this in my RD350 motorcycle which is two stroke. i want to replace point breaker system. your design is for 6V system and i have 12V DC battery operated system. how and what components i need to change in your schematic? please provide a 12V Design idea. with hall sensor value and if i can use pulser coil http://www.regulatorrectifier.com/ca...ges/esp100.jpgsystem? let me know plz |
RE: TCI-ignition
In the middle of clean up here after a massive flood took out everything so all my records etc. have been lost.
From memory if you change the 18ohm 5 watt resistor to 39ohm 5 watt the 330ohm 1/4w resistor to 560ohm 1/4w then I think that should probably do it. Maybe change to two 470 ohm 1/4 to something higher as well say to 1.0K You will have to try the latter and see. As for the hall effect the original was Allegro uA3240 but that is not made any longer. Replacement for that is Allegro uA1120 I believe. Remember small capacitor on the hall effect should be mounted right on the hall effect (not on the circuit board some distance away) Pulse coil will require a different arrangement and I really do not have any spare time at the moment to work it out. (probably for the next 12 months or so) Hope that helps....cheers |
