hey just wonderin i want to converte a TT-pro .46 to diesel using davis' kit has anyone done it and if so does it work better then glow thanks

you bet it does go for it----my tt 46 is in a bobcat a low wing
trigear I got from Cermark the plane came with a 46 generic
motor installed which I ditched for $50 (never ran it) in went
the tt46 with davis diesel head zinger wood 11x7 I would have
gone a 12x6 but not enough ground clearance. very spirited
the tt pros are great diesel conversions I have a pair of tt 25
pros in a twinstar running davis heads due to the 4oz tanks
it was a had to do to extend run times,also very easy to sync
engines.it had a pair of mag 30 4str to start but had sync
problems and did not want to deal with an engine out situation
this is a none problem with diesels...(unless you run em till empty

a guess I think diesel is around 22 to 25 a gallon but remember
twice the time per oz so its like 2 gallons of glo I may be guessing high on the diesel fuel price. thats all you need
the head the fuel some tygon or neoprene tubing to convert
fuel line you cannot use silicone it is not diesel or gasoline
compatable.this guy (davis) is the guhru on this and is
very ethical believe and do what he suggests
I have 9 or 10 of his heads from ,10 to 53s and never a problem
in closing do not mess around trying to make fuel, forget the
bathtub chemistry I am a pharmacist by trade and I wont mix it\\

Hey,
Mixing your own fuel is part of the fun. Ether is available to the public it's just sold as engine starting fluid at places like Pep Boys. Turn the can upside down and spray out all the aerosol then puncture the can and pour out your ether. As for the kerosene component,use scented lamp oil and it even smells nice. For Amyl nitrate, go to the auto shop again and get diesel cetene booster. Its the same thing.

As for ethics, $59.99 for a diesel head is quite expensive, especially when RJL sells comparable conversion heads for $19.99. However I'm not sure of how many different types he sells. I have both Davis' and RJL's for an O.S. .40 and I much prefer the RJL conversion. It's smaller,lighter and is anodized blue. I mostly machine my own conversions and have converted a lot of engines.

I currently have over 70 different diesel engines in all sizes and really enjoy running them and have even made some homebuilts.
