ASP Radial to Gas

Hi All!

Is it any chance to make ASP FS400 run on gas?

Are you are a qualified machinist a total gear-head and love self induced headaches? If you meet these qualifications then it is possible..

I'm a scale warbird pilot :-) and what I really want it to get a cheap fuel scale engine.

Moki is to large for my models, and to expansive. THat' I think about idea to convert a multi cylinder glow engine to the gas.

To do a simple conversion to gas is possible.

Running it on gas would still involve the same amount of oil to fuel ratio.
The bearings need the same amount of oil on glow fuel or gas.

The electronic ignition system would take some serious thought.

What you might consider is a gas glow setup.

It still runs with glow plugs but it is a 2/3 gas 1/3 glow fuel.

I have ran single and twin engines and some run real well and some not so well.
The ones that like it idle slower have a better mid range and higher top end.
The higher the compression the less nitro is needed.
High compression seems to work better than lower compression.
There is a whole bunch of info on RCU about it

Don't give up on the idea.
Opinions are like ears .... everyone has a couple of them.

Man, that's a nice looking engine for a super price. Wish I had the bucks....
