should be 10-24 threads, take the other one in to the hardware store to get a matching length one...

I tried a 10mm and it did not fit think it was to big well i am going to a big hardware store and try and find one what i have is a jag engine 360 muffler i put lock tight on the bolts and they backed out so i guess i will use a washer and a split washer and lock tight michael

#10 not 10mm, #10 is about 3/16", #12 is just under 1/4".

Another option if backing out persists:

Standard,or vice grip pliers will be fine for your two bolts.
Pay particular attention to the wire routing direction.
Look around the shop for a six inch piece of soft steel, light gauge, mechanics wire,or whatever small diameter stuff ya got.

I have a muffler that has been drilled to 1/4 standard, and it has a safety wire hole. I bought this engine from a swap meet and it was mostly junk, did retrive some good parts. Flathead
