Cool conversion tool...
Hi guys,
I normally use my band saw when hacking off "everything that doesn't look like a model airplane engine" on my conversions. You often have to make multiple cuts doing that, and sometimes you get crossed up and tweak or break the bandaw blade. But today I decided to try one of my other tools, and it's "The Bomb" for doing conversions. Here it is: http://www.harborfreight.com/high-sp...saw-91753.html It's cheap! It worked great. I am assuming a lot of you already have compressors in order to run the tool.... The blades are only "fair" quality, so don't force them, and it would be a good idea to buy a pack of extra blades if you buy the tool. But it really does work good for converting engines, and I am sure you will find other hobby uses for it as well. AV8TOR |
RE: Cool conversion tool...
I've been looking at these for a while.
I need one every once in a while. I have a saws all but it's pretty clumsy. |

I did a little 21cc Echo today with that tool and had most everything cut off in about 2 minutes or less. A little touch up with the belt sander, some fine dressing with a Dremel and sanding drum, and it will be done. I've had the tool for a while; don't know why I didn't think of using it on engine conversions until today. The narrow blade fits into areas a sawsall can't. It doesn't use much air either, unlike a lot of air tools.

yeah, the last couple I did I used a Saws-all, same idea.

I have been using a SAWSALL for some time, but be careful. You can take a lot off in no time.
