....
All you need to do is undo and remove the blade grip bolts, and swap the aluminium spacer and washer over. So that the small washer is now against the bearing instead of the spacer....
A nice close up photo would lighten things up.

they posted links on another site for it, its against the rules to post links to other forums but i think the mod allowed it in the blade cp thread, the link shows pics of the original way it was put together and the right way.

Guys, thanks for all your input. I am going to purchase a HBCP2 within a few days. Besides extra blades, do you guys recommend any other extras??

Hi Honeybeemad, how long are your flight times with the 1000 mah lipo?

I dont fly for more than 3-5 minutes at a time, so its hard to tell, but I get about 5 or 6 flight, so about 20 minutes roughly (which is what I was told to expect)

Sometimes I get the problem where it refuses to lift of the ground even at full throttle, and then suddenly it shoots up in the air like a mad thing. Might try and grease the swash plate etc to see if this helps.
You can fix this issue quite easily.

Hoverup has posted a fix on a couple of other forums for the Blade CP, which is pretty much the same as the ESky Honeybee2 CP(3D).
I have a CP2 and have done this fix with great results!!
All you need to do is undo and remove the blade grip bolts, and swap the aluminium spacer and washer over. So that the small washer is now against the bearing instead of the spacer....

Thanks rotarypower that actually works!, I think I know what I had done wrong. A couple of weeks ago I had removed the blade grip bolts and then put them back in but tightened them fully!. But looking at one of the bolts it has thread lock compound on it. So maybe they arent supposed to but TIGHTENED fully but left a bit slack with the thread lock holding them in place.
Swapping over the washers does seem to work because the big washer was originally pushing against the inner and outer ring of a ball race (not good), now the small washer is pushing against the small ring of the ball race with the big washer on the outside (which is ok)
Here is a link to me flying my heli last night www.cupwinkcook.net/vault/heli/ and then download honeybee.avi

I just recently bought my hb 2. For my first one i bought the CP2. Its actually easier to fly then everybody makes it out to be, my big crash wasnt even my fault although money wasnt a big deal i bought a bunch of replacement parts that everybody in this thread had broke. lots of rotor heads, tail gears-tail motors, blades...etc. I have a problem that was brought up earlier and im still a bit confused. I have flown it low on the ground about three times and didnt notice the tail was moving too much, on the fourth go i tried to take it to about five feet. Well apparently my tail rotor proportion is off, as it rotated counter clockwise (Whether you are looking from the front or rear, its still counter clockwise.) Someone earlier mentioned theirs was turning left, but im having trouble with that description since it depends on perspective. It spiraled out of control and hit the pavement. now it has a one broken mainblade, and one of the balls on the side pieces of the rotor head broke off. So i am thinking the proportion needs turned up +. It spun pretty fast, if im correct about that, how much should i turn it up? Since im doing it the idiot way and crossing my fingers that is. I have figured out to test it on the floor in my room on the tile to see if the tail spins at all, but now im waiting for parts. I also ordered the twin tail motor kit from heli hobby, so im going to wait to fly again until i upgrade some things. Since this may again through the proportion off. any ideas on how to set it properly would be very helpfull.

pre thanks

Good

I am becoming quite the epoxy, super glue fixer upper. I managed to fix my rotor head completely, on my second flight it broke just one ball off of the rotor head side piece. What i did was put a tiny 2-3cm nail through right to the side of where the ball stud used to be. I then bent the tiny nail around the double end non adjustable ball link. So when i had that last crash, the other one broke but the one i had fixed did not break! It actually made no difference in the stability of the bird....so I have now done them both this way and completely fixed my rotor head at no cost to me. I just need to wait about two more days tops for some of my blades to show up. I have run it on my bench without the main blades, and everything is smooth like it should be so i have no hidden damage, or vibration.

Over all this thing is very fun, and worth learning on, cause if i do smash it to pieces an all new one could be had for cheap.

Is that not the old version of the Honeybee CP?

Some people probably have the newer version too... One of the easiest to see differences: radio has LCD screen for battery voltage....

Hey guys I have a question.

I have little experience with helicopters but about 15 years with RC cars so bear with me.

I have been wanting a heli for a while now and decided on the honey bee. Well I found one on Ebay with everything plus extra parts and a 11.1 Lipo for 90 shipped and couldn't pass up the deal.

I just got it in the mail today and it looks nice and seems to be in great shape. I charged the battery and saw 12.55 volts at full charge and went for my inagural flight. Well the dang thing can't fly and seems all out of wack. It will try and take off but it kinda just tips over. Its like it doesn't have enough power or something.

So I saw the sticking collector thread and took apart the blade grips only to discover there was no washer in between the oring and the grip, and no little aluminum spacer. I had some spare washers and made it so it rotates nice and smooth. I figured that was the problem, but I still can't get it in the air even with full throttle. I do have training gear on but I doubt that is enough weight to keep it grounded.

All the servos and everything seems to be working according to how it should in the manual. I am stumped.

Please help.

Thanks a bunch,
Ryan

Are you setting the throttle trim up at least half way before trying to lift off? That gives it more pitch. Did you check the blade pitch? They should be flat across the bottom or just a little positive pitch. Also if you try to lift off to slow they will slide and tip some.

I tried taking off with the trim at low middle and high and it wouldn't lift off. I tried taking off slow and fast with no results.

About the blade pitch, how do I check it. Do I need the squash plate in the center of its travel? Sorry, this is litterly my first time seeing a r/c heli.

If you could explain to me how to check and adjust the pitch that would be great.

First unplug the main motor and tail motor, make sure the throttle and trim are all the way down and turn on the tx, plug in the battery to the heli so the servos will center. Make sure all the servo horns are CENTERED. If they are look at the bottom of both blades to see if they are flat or have a slight bit of positive angle. If they need adjusting pop off the link at the rear of the blade grip and turn the link. Counter clockwise will give the blades less pitch, clockwise will give positive pitch. Then move the throttle trim up a half way and see if the servos move and increase the blade pitch, then give it full throttle and the servos should increase pitch more. If all that is okay unplug the heli, plug the motors back in, plug in the heli and wait for the green light. Now you have to hold it down on the table by the skids so the blades don't hit you and move the throttle trim to half way and give it a little throttle and look at the tip of the blades at eye level, they shoud appear as one. If you can see 2 blade tips unplug it, adjust one blade (pay attention to which one) by turning the link either in or out 1/2 turn and try it again. If its worse do it again but turn it the other way. Keep doing that till they look like one blade spinning. Then see if it will lift off. Also check the shaft pin. Hold the main gear and try to turn the head, it should try to turn the gear too, if it spins while holding the gear the shear pin is broke.

Since you are waiting for new parts, in order to trim the tail motor you can do the following:
1. Remove the main blades.
2. Power up the Tx and then the Rx.
3. Start giving some throtte gradually and make sure if the tail motror revs up as you throttle up.
4. Move the stick to the right and make sure if the tail motor revs up even more.

If all above is ok then wait for the new blades to come, install them and make the same procedure with the blades on.

You have to hold the heli down with one hand and the control with the other. When the throttle reaches the 2/3 mark, adjust the tail trim so the bird doesn't tend to spin to either direction. You will notice that this trimming is not the optimum as you throttle down, but that's ok. You may adjust it by moving the stick to the proper direction.

I have a the tail patched up as of yesterday, waiting on main blades. even without the main blades the torque from the main engine was spinning the heli at the 2/3 mark, or less even. So i have cranked the prop up a bit to get it to stop. Since the trim is adjusted to the middle hopefully now it will be in range enough to keep it in the air as last time even with full right control stick on the tail it still came down, it was way off. I didnt realize how fast the tail motor was supposed to be going.

thanks

You will probably have to adjust the prop. pot on the 4 in 1 also. If it trys spinning clockwise ( nose, right) turn the the prop. counter clockwise. If it spins to the left (the nose) turn the prop. to the right (clockwise). Make sure you unplug the battery before you adjust the 4 in 1 and set the yaw trim in the middle. Only turn the prop. in the 4 in 1 a small amount each time till you get it right.

Yeah, I've had the radio for a couple of weeks but I still have to get the crystal and a couple of other parts that are about to break. Once they'll break which will be very shortly, I'll them and the crystal from helihobby. Combined shipping.
I did setup some of the stuff and there's quite a few things to setup but they didn't seem difficult. I guess the dificult part is when you actually setup the servos and responce and the pitch and throttle curves.

ok I've been trying get my tracking fixed for about a month now. I've tried everything I can think of besides buying new parts. my problem is that the one blade ends up about 1/4- 1/2 inch above the other starting at about 1/4-1/2 throttle.

Any suggestions on how to adjust my tracking on my honeybee? Maybe I'm just not doing the right things. or maybe I will need new parts but I want to ask here before I go and break it trying to fix it or buy stuff i don't need. I've also learned, a lot of time being able to fly other people's heli's does not mean you know how to fix stuff on your own when yours breaks.
