Default New Belt-CP belt

I just recently(Wednesday!!) got my first "real" rc heli, a Belt-CP RTF. I've gone through it checking the screws, pitch, tracking, etc. Everything is great but I think the tail-drive belt is loose but I'm not sure what it's supposed to be like. When I spin it up(I'm doing Radd's School of Rotary Flight , it is not catching right away, kind of skipping at first. Is this mormal or do I need to adjust something?

Loosen the four screws that support the boom. Then pull the boom out 1mm at a time until it stops skipping.

Page 22 of the Belt Manual explains the tensioning process and how tight the belt should be. Be careful not to tighten it too much because you will over stress the belt and bearings.

I only needed to move it about the 1mm suggested and i quit jumping. Again, thanks for the advise. this forum has been a great help in tips plus helping me decide which heli to buy.

Just to add more, especially in your flight checks...

The recommended tension is that the belt should be tight enough to reach half way to the other side of the belt. You can do this near the belt drive gear where you can see both sides of the belt. Take a hex tool, or something similar, and push the belt with it to feel the tension.

I'm the newbie that has the oppertunity to rebuild the main blade housing due to the fact that i sheered the flybar case on my third flight. What is the lube I'm seeing on some of the parts? I also purchased a pitch guage. I'm now going to need it. How do you use the guage?

Thanks!

I also have to wait for parts to come in. I stripped my main gear. I would also like to know what lube is on the parts. The type I use collects dirt really bad on my CX. To use the pitch gauge make the flybar perfectly level then I put the gauge on the blade as far away from the grips as possible. Then there should be a flat part on the pitch gauge the you want parallel to the flybar. Then read the pointer and how many degrees the blades are.

I've been using Tri-Flow Superior Dry Lubricant and it works great. It made my king2 fly much better. I never thought my swash, belt rollers and bearings were sticky, but after using Tri-Flow on them I could really feel the difference and that's with all stock head parts!

Where did you get that at? On the webpage there was a picture of a bike. Would a bike shop carry that?

I froogled it and came up with JensonUSA.com $16.18 for two different versions - a pen and a tube.

Don't know where else to find it.

Got it at my local bike/skate shop a over the summer because I ran out of the graphite dry lube I was using for the chain on my road bike (one of my inexpensive hobbies). :-)
You shoujld be able to find it at a other places though.. maybe even at wally world.
I'm heading out to shop tomorrow and if I see it around in other stores I'll let ya know.

Went to Walmart and K-mart today but didn't find Tri-Flow at either place.

I looked at some car parts stores. It's probably too light for auto use. We don't have a local bike shop so I could not check there. Probably have to order online.

i use 100% silicone spray. i just spray the whole heli down with it and it is amazing how much smoother things are. i also spray my belt to loosen and soften it up also. plus silicone spray is less than $3.50 a can.
