Default servo problem??

yeah so I fly my HBK2 this morning everything was fine...then I recharge the batteries and I plug the battery in but the servo on the front side of the swash shot in the wrong direction...and it keeps humming...what the heck is going on with this thing?
why is it acting this way all the sudden?
Thanks for any help or info you got.[8D]

1 of 3:
1. servo chipped
2. servo motor burnt out
3. servo chip gone

to check each one:

1.move the servo arm by hand, it should be as hard and soft as the other ones with no clicking sound.
2. move the servo arm by hand, it should be moving with more effort than the other servos.
3. open it up, see if anything yellow is covering anything.

Default RE: servo problem??

well with no power hooked up the servo arm wont move by hand...all my other servos do.
but if I take the cover off and hook the battery up the servo motor starts to spin and never stops!!
no broken teeth either...
so I guess I have a bad chip???[]
this ESKY electronics are starting to really bother me....

whats a good servo to run with the stock TX??
I tried to search it but it's hard to find the answer in the treads.....
Thanks for your help!
Cheers

Well, I have used about 6 ESKY servos. I tried Flyermate,
I thought they were good. Their motors suck arse though...
I'm giving SG90 and SG50 chances since people like 'em.

Don't blame the bird too much though. It's a fine bird excpet some of the crappy stock stuff.

I've used SG90's with success, but then again I've never had trouble with the esky ones either. Futabas spin in the right direction and the 3114's have worked, some modding may be required to make them fit.

what if I put this on the tail....[link]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNCW1&P=7[/link]
and used the old tail Esky servo as the replacement for my other esky servo??
would that work ok??

Default RE: servo problem??

I figured all the servos would be the same, but the servo on my heli's tail was totally different. When I took it apart I found that it has a different gearing configuration on the inside. It actually had the same main top gear as the digital D75 gears. So I am guessing that it is probably a digital servo while the others are analog...The tail servo has a different speed and torque to take care of the tail demands, so i am sure it would be a bad idea to use it. Maybe it is a fluke that my tail was set like this, maybe not, you will have to confirm that by looking inside the servo yourself...

Peace,

Z

I would just get a 3114 for your tail if the tail servo is moved to the cyclic. The 3114 is a very fast servo. And only like $15.

Default RE: servo problem??

well I made some calls this morning and I cant find any Futaba servos locally....I am going to find some upgraded servos soon...but in the mean time I found a LHS that has some HS50 and has them instock.
can I run the HS50 with the stock esky tx??
I was searching the forums and I found that the HS55 requires some wire moding/soldering...but I cant find out if the HS50 is the same deal??
my LHS guy says it will work..but he also does not carry esky so he may not know enough about the HBK2 to even know if it works??
so if I move the stock esky digital servo from the tail to the swash and put a HS50 on the tail until I can mail order some replacement servos will that work with the stock tx??
thanks guys.

You can use any servo you want on the tail as it's easy to just rev the servo since it doesn't have to work with any others.

So, yes move the esky servo to the swashplate and put the hs50 on the tail.

woot woot!!
I am stoked!
now I can fly today after all!!!
thanks for all your help guys..
would a hs55 be better then the hs50 for the tail?? and would it work on the tail too?
the hs55 is cheaper and it seem to be built better then the hs50??

all right guys I picked up a hs55 at the LHS(they ended up being out of the hs50) ...I am stoked I put it on my tail and now the tail seems so much more stable!
the hs55 had better spec then the hs50 from what I saw...it had 4V and 6V rating and the hs50 only list 4V.
thanks for the help yall.

The 50 and 55 are pretty much the same except the 55 gave up the speed of the 50 for more torque. Dont worry too much about the voltage as most of our little ESC by Dynam and Esky only run about 5 volt anyway.
The 50 is only about 8 oz of torque and thats about as "weak" as you can get. Its pretty much 1/2A plane material.
No need to waste money on a expensive digital servo for the tail if you dont have a gyro that can "talk" digital to either.
I use futaba 3114 on the tail as it is fairly fast and strong and yet small and light.
I didn't use them for the cyclic as they would be a little difficult to mount due to the small physical size and tiny control arms looked puny to me.

53 Willys,
As far as the Esky servo goes, open up the case top and you will see the tiny metal gear from the motor spinning without engaging the adjacent
nylon gear. Just use needle nose pliers to gently pull the small metal gear up far enough to engage the nylon gear. Voila! Problem solved. No more humming. I've done this a couple of times and flown the heli with success, but I guess you never know when the gears will disengage again. I think it will take a crash to cause the problem though.
