Default WARBIRDS OVER IOWA July 23rd

The 8th annual Warbirds Over Iowa fly-in will be held Saturday, July 23rd, and in case of bad weather will move to July 24th. We have some nice trophies this year and expect a good turn-out of pilots and spectators. Flying fee is only $5.00, and spectators get in free. Event shirts will be available for $12 each. The event is also a fundraiser for Honor Flight of Eastern Iowa, and organization that flys combat veterans to DC. For more details and coverage of past events go to the Cedar Rapids Skyhawks site at [link]http://www.crskyhawks.org/[/link]

Feel free to post if you have any questions about the event.

For anyone from out of town, here's a preferred rate from Country Inn and Suites

If you need hotel arrangements I can extend a preferred rate for your event. $79 includes an awesome breakfast. Just have them say they have a preferred rate with the warbirds.

Thanks Todd!

Hot Rod - We had a fantastic time at Warbirds over Iowa this past weekend. It was a very well organized event and just a beautiful place to fly. Plus it was all to benefit the Honor Flights, it doesn't get any better than that. For those of you that couldn't make it this year, be sure to put it on your calendar for next.
I also wanted to personally thank you for a wonderfully crafted trophy! It will proudly sit on my "RC Hobby" shelf.

Thanks again for a great time!

Thanks for the kind words, we were really glad you guys showed up. Because of the spotty weather we were missing many of the pilots from nearby towns who didn't want to make the trip to see rain. You guys really helped us by bringing your great stable of planes and contributed much to providing a good flight demo for the audience. I'll be posting a link with an event write up, and we hope to get a CD loaded with photos for all the pilots. Thanks again.

Lyle,

I'd just like to echo Todd's sentiments: That was one excellent display you and Steve (I think, that's his name) put on with the mustangs. Your B-25 and B-29 bombers were incredibly impressive, too! (and flown incredibly well, too, of course)

Glad you guys made the trip... not the easiest of jaunts, but at least it was cooler up here than OK over the weekend.

Last but not least, your hand-painted pilots are unbelievable! Although I'm not currently in the market, I know exactly where I'm going to get my next set of crew members!

And to you, Todd, great event and I cannot wait until next year!

Regards,

Noah

Here's some photos from the event taken by Rich Dean. If you were at the event and would like some in full definition, drop me an E-mail.

Many more photos to come, and I'm still working on getting a CD made.

Awesome shots Todd! Your aircraft look great! Love the one of your jet with the pilot looking out at the spectators.

Yes, please pass along my congrats to Rich on those great photos. As Lyle pointed out, that picture of your jet and pilot is particularly nice.

Lyle, hope the YA P-47 will not be down for too long... tough to see that happen to such great flying (and spectacular looking) model.

Regards,

Noah

My Videographer, Gary, passed on the video to me yesterday. I was able to throw together some clips to make an event movie.

Here's the Youtube link, enjoy.

Thanks for sharing, you guys, and thanks for all the time and effort editing the video, Todd (I know it take more time than most people appreciate!)

I have posted an event report on the contest results page. It has some photos, but I have many more.

I did not get addresses at the event, so participants can send me a personal message and I will mail you a photo CD when they are available.

Thanks for the great report, Todd!

By the way... any chance for a high-res image of the TBM doing the "air-show" pass, AND the two mustangs in flight? (both pictures appear in the report) Those are really great photos! Please email them if possible.

Best,

Noah

Thanks for making the trip, we look forward to seeing you guys again next year. I would like to extend the event into more than one day to provide more draw for those coming from out of town. We'll see what happens.

Glad you liked the photos, both of our photographers got some great shots.

Thanks for the CD's, Todd!

I gave Allen Walzer his, too.

Might I suggest advertising/announcing the event in the "Warbirds and Warplanes" forum, too, for next year?

The Warbirds Over Iowa event might capture/draw some additional (and much deserved) attention!

See you soon.

Noah
