And it looks like they had great weather and a good turnout.

Hello, everybody! Pictures from the event are now posted on the TRC club's website: www.flytrc.com. There are about 400 pictures for your viewing pleasure. A lot of those pics are also of full scale WW1 aircraft that flew during the event. You have to look closely, it is difficult to tell the full scale planes from the incredible number of superbly detailed 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4 scale planes that attended. We had about 74 pilots show up, from as far away as Minnesota and Texas. You can also read a write up from Glenn Torrance on his website. This is now a "must see and fly" event, see ya'll next year...

I'm waiting for a cd to be dropped off, then I will post some pics here. But TRC website has it now!
all the pictures I will post were taken by Pert Asiatico. Not only a great photographer but excellent modeler. Check out his 1/4 scale birds, SE-5a and D-VII.

Ok I have some pics or you all.
The 2014 Mid-Atlantic WW-1 Dawn Patrol, held October 1-5, was an outstanding flying event. Once again the weather, location, and combined full scale airshow proved to be a winning combination for all who attended at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach. In short, this is an event you need to add to your bucket list.
Working with the co-event sponsors, Glenn Torrance Models and Tidewater Remote Control Club, we drew a record 74 pilots registered; with attendance from across 16 states including as far away as Texas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Georgia and Florida. Each year the quality of the aircraft and numbers keep rising. Models of all sizes were welcome with most being 1/4 and 1/3 scale models but at least three were 1/2 scale.

Here is a picture of Glenn Torrance’s latest kit: 1/3 scale British SE-5a in the bones. WOW! The detail and craftsmanship was top notch and this airplane is more like a miniature copy of the real plane then a R/C model. Be sure to check out his site WWW.FLYGTM.com

Another nice touch from Vogalsang Aeroscale was a free T-Shirt to all registered Pilots. Black with White lettering it featured a MAD 2014 text over the State of VA on the front pocket area. The back had a nice drawing of a Fokker Eindecker and some of the VA Areoscale advertisement. Thanks again Gotz. Here is a link to his website: http://www.team-aeroscale.com

Here is another Eindecker. Guys if you know the pilots by name, please add as I did not meet everyone. but as you can see this is another beautiful model and flew great.
edit: thanks Udet1918 for correction and pilot. See his post #99 for video of the Pfalz flying.
The "Eindecker" is a Pfalz EII built by Gene Gavin from Staten Island, NY.

Mike Gross takes off in his award winning fokker Dr.1. Built from a stock GTM kit, but with impeccable detail and attention to detail including full cockpit with moving stick and wind anemometer on the struts. At 1/3 scale it had a 94.5'' wing span and a DLE 111cc twin engine.
