Tuff Folks Only!!!
We had our Cabin Fever Reliever yesterday in Elko Nevada. It was a big sucess but took a little extra effort due to the snow.
We didn't know what a hardy bunch we were until the need arose.
I started with the clearing of the pit area and parking lot, and because we did the event on skis, we left the runway covered with snow.
Here is a little picture tour:

The fun didn't stop for the whole day with everybody bringing stuff for the feast, and planes for the flying.
Though it was cold, we do have a heated club house and so there is a place to eat and chew the fat with fellow club members.

For those who really like to see planes on skis, here are just a few more that we had flying.
If anybody has been flying with skis, please add them to the group of planes here!

More fun than anyone would have expected.
It is really fun to land and take off from skis, I think it is a little like grass.

RE: Tuff Folks Only!!!
one thing we learned in a hurry was don't walk on the run way. lol every time a plane dropped a ski in a footprint it came to a scretching halt!!!!!!!!! Flying off snow is a lot of fun and you guys look like you made the best of a cold winters day. Our club always plans on a snowfly but we never get around to it. Now if I hadn't spent all that money on clothing I could have bought another plane !!!! Anyway, its just to cold for this old man

RE: Tuff Folks Only!!!
Your sure right about the foot prints
I came in for a smooth landing and was taxing up to the pits, when I fell into a large trail and bent the gear!!
It is hard to get use to, because things are so different.
Thanks for your comments,

This shows a side of modelling that I will never encounter, we simply dont have any flying facilities in Australia where flying is done from snow.
Looks bloody cold, but also a whole heap of fun.
Thanks for the pictures
Cheers

Hi Phil,
We just had a friend from down under, come over for a visit. She had never seen snow up close, and her idea of Christmas fun really struck us.
So different buy yet so much in common!!

Its a little hard to believe sometimes, but, there are many people in Australia who have never seen the white stuff.
Some years ago I was teaching at our college, when the class became very restless. It was the middle of winter and cold. I kept ticking away and they were becoming more restless.
It turned out that for only the second time that I can recall it was snowing outside. Now, many of our students were from interstate and all but 4 had never seen snow. We suspended classes and let them go outside and make snow balls etc.
That was in 1986.
That class to this day holds a reunion every year and they ALWAYS mention the snow.
So much in common yes. I've served with the US military in 3 different locations. We all enjoy one and others company.
Best wishes and Cheers
