Look in the warbird forum. I started posting them in this thread, and quickly found out that this is an unfriendly thread.

This was my first time attending Top Gun - I had a great time. It has to be really difficult to have the event run smooth enough to safely enable 3-5 large scale models in the air simultaneously with thousands of hours of effort each, and the pilots still feel comfortable with it. A lot of effort was evident from Frank, the local club, and the dozen or so judges to get it to run like that. Some spectators may have been disappointed at access to the models without paying, but I've been to events where model parts are accidentally stepped on due to the crowds, and that just doesn't fly.

I appreciated the opportunity to fly in Top Gun, and I hope to again in the future! [8D]

There were many German aircraft types at the event. If you mean the Storch in the pics above, I believe the Builder was Ed Newman, and piloting was Nick Ziroli. I'm not sure how to contact them though. Maybe an email to Nick from his website...

This is GOOD STUFF by the way

World class planes and modelers, that is no doubt. Top Gun really does bring the best of the best together.

Stickbuilder, having seen these models up close I dont see how you guys judge the subtle differences! Excellent photos in the warbird thread too.

As for the pit pass, if I had known up front I could have planned for it, finding out after I paid to get in made me mad. Its all in the presentation I guess and Frank having a hissy fit about it didn't help, though God knows, I'm sure he's a bit stressed on game day, I know I'd be.

Actually, we don't see any differences between models. Each plane is judged solely against the documentation that the builder provides. So, that means that you are only in competition against yourself. If you build exactly to your documentation, then you will do well in static. If you depart from your documentation, or try to find documentation that matches what you have already built, then the odds are against you. I have had builders tell me that their documentation was the closest thing that they could find to their plane. That's putting the cart way before the horse. The high scoring builders will always collect the documentation first, and do their best to replicate it.

Though your presence was appreciated, it was not manditory. You made the choice to go. If you couldn't afford to go, you shouldn't have. On the flyer, it clearly states a $10 fee to get in. It also states there will be a food court and trade show. That is a clear indication that more than $10 will be required. There are two contact addresses on the flyer. If you had questions regarding the cost of individual priviledges you should have contacted one of them. As far as the PIT PASS "PRIVILEDGE", that was not a required purchase. Your getting in to attend the event was not contingent upon purchase of a PIT PASS.

I used to be employed by Mr. Tiano when he was operating out of West Palm Beach and during my employment I witnessed the time, effort, and money that went into putting this function together. For him, this is a PROCESS, not an EVENT! It is more work than you can imagine. It is an amazing show and Mr. Tiano does a great job. Show some respect.[>:]

In closing, if you can't afford to go or think he is overcharging given everything he puts into it

STAY HOME!

It was your loss. Sorry you feel that way. It would appear that he does not hold the patent on being rude, arrogant and obnoxious. Your first post on this thread started out by blasting the event and Frank. Those who support his efforts feel just as strongly in favor of him, as you do against him. You and your 3 pals probably were not missed.

You're missing his point. He's angry because he'd paid...and then had to pay again. The price of the event wasn't advertised in advance. how about the guy who got his kitchen pass then arrived without the money to get in the pits? Get it said up front and nobody will complain. Now you've pissed off a lot of next years customers.
