Almost all our diesel engines are out of production and many of us have probably purchased our engines without the box or instructions / manual. I wondered if there would be any interest in a thread where we could share this information. Starting off here's the AM 10.

This is a great idea that should be supported by all and may prove to be a source of rare information that could be lost unless recorded like this.
Perhaps all forums should have a 'manual' or 'instruction' section done also, I fully believe that it would be inundated with great advice!

I have far mor of these little critters than is really good for me, so naturally I have a ton of papers, etc. Let me know if there are any "special requests", and I'll see what I can do. I agree that this is a really great idea. We should try to make the scans as clean as possible, though.
Cheers!!

I've not been able to find the thread on RC Groups. Recognize that whoever said "we did this on RC groups" may not be able to post the link, but could you point me in the right direction. I'd like to contribute and get information.
Thanks,
John

But I doubt that it would be diesel orientated anyway so I think that this idea really belongs here, for now at least.

If anyone is interested, I can upload my 1 cc Schlosser instructions .... but you had better be able to read german
In fact, if anyone can, a good (non-babelfish) translation to the Queens English would be much appreciated!

The [link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=955929]thread over at RCG[/link] is not specific to diesels. It's a sticky in the engine forum.
How many pages is the Schlosser paperwork? I've done it before when I sold German kits, hmm ten years ago. Technical material never translates well.

Thanks for the link Greg.
Perhaps its better to simply collate all the instructions (or whatever) into a permanent thread without the chatter around them, that way you could index them under manufactures titles and find what you want soooooo much easier.
The thread over at RCgroups is commendable but messy.

I removed my failed attempt to post Davis instructions until I have more time, I need to convert them to PDF and so far I haven't figured out how to do that. My wifes big fancy "double barrel, dual everything" scanner, Fax, copier, printer can largify, smallify , change colors and all kinds of other stuff. PDF is in its menue somewhere.

This is just a general discussion of model diesel engines, old and new, but mostly old. All comments and pictures are most welcome.

Schlosser .25cc:

I should have the instructions for the .5cc R/C motor in 2 or 3 weeks depending on how slow the boat is from Oz.

MP Jet .061 BB R/C:
I have seen slight variations in the color of the boxes, three so far (doesn't show up in the photo but it's very noticeable in person) as well as two types of foam. all but one of these motors have black foam rubber which deteriorates rapidly when exposed to diesel slime. One has light green foam, I would have to check the warranty date in the instructions to see if this was a later development or not. Differences in the engines seem limited to two things: early engines had an external low end needle whereas the later ones had a screwdriver slot, and the finish on the mufflers may either be gloss or matte finish.

This particular box is a bit Tatty (all 5 were bought second hand, only the glow motors were new at purchase-I hadn't met Greg yet, LoL) but the foam is intact in this box:

You need a magnifying glass to read the instructions, they consist of 1 photocopied page-One side has the Czech instructions and warranty/inspection statement/stamp and the other has the English instructions.

These are wonderful motors BTW, very much worthy of their reputation. They are VERY hot as R/C 1cc diesels go.

There were a handful on Feebay this week, all went for reasonable prices. You just have to find one and stay with the auction. Even when they go high they aren't nearly as expensive as when I bought most of mine. I'd be disheartened if I had bought them to collect...

Nice colection there DD ... may your engines run smooth and cool

I don't have many diesels, just the MP-Jets, a few MVVS 2.5's, a PAW .061 and .19 RC, a Zeus .049, 1 Schlosser and another on the way. Fortunately GKamysz is a good friend and exposed me to a lot of neat diesels from his collection. Being a child of the 70's and 80's, my interests are more towards the modern/high performance end of things so ComBloc engines and those made after the fall are of particular interest to me. Unfortunately, there aren't too many of them to choose from. I haven't latched on to too many vintage engines yet because they are all just too similar-I like engines that are "different" or have some technical credential that was new or interesting for the period it was made.
I still have yet to build a diesel powered airplane, but I can already tell that my future is bright with smellypower. I am currently flying a fiberglass P51 sport pylon with a Norvel .074 that will be converted when Greg finishes/redoes my head. I haven't ever turned threads, but I am in the machine trades and hope to make some diesel heads for some of the oddball engines I have. One of them is the Fora .020, which bears some resemblance to the Czech motors of similar displacement. Just higher tech, which is cool.
I'm gonna die being made fun of as the lone wierdo in the club who smells funny and has airplanes that piss off the neighbors.[>:]
ETA: I'd give one of my family jewels for a Parra .15D....

I have a PARRA .15D R/C, but it is not for sale. Lovely engine. Exquisite design and machine work. A real keeper.
I have repaired my test stand so my "down under" diesel test programme can re-commence, if I can ever get away from the curse of the diesel addicted, the evil called WORK
