Default Irvine 15XR car engine conversion

Well we got a re-run today raining outside, so at front of garage with door up. Engine a little stiff, sittting for a year or so, a bit of Davis ABC mix a few flips then
smooth as silk, had to use the electric starter
finally it kicked off, first prop was a rev up pro series 8.5x7 wood best we good do was about 9600, I changed to a top flite wood8x5 and finally with about a half turn in on the needle and 1/4 out on the compression screw any more than that and a miss
car carb needed a little screw driver we could hold 11,200 idle 3900 , ran quite clean very little gray smoke and brown oil not much out the 90 degree elbow stack ( no muffler)
the real surprise was not that loud not that much more than a muffler fitted engine
It would hand flip start after 10-12 flips there was a big increase in compression after first run
\Do not think too many of these around A J Coholic made the diesel head for it

Post Note had a brain freeze should have opened the the idle adjustment screw on the throttle arm assembly may have gotten a lower idle and a bit better transition to full throttle forgot

I was a little disappointed on the revs was really expecting 12500 to 13000 on the 8x5 prop maybe more time required only about 20 minutes on it
it is ABC martin
