Default I dood it...

I received the Thunder Tiger .10 NIB engine from the eBay seller yesterday. It is pristine. I'm happy.

Now to ring up Bob and get a head for it. Shortly, I will be back among the living diesel fools again (I liked that Dave).

I have a small J-3 Cub ARF that I have been saving for a little while. It calls for a .15. I'm tempted to try the .10. I can always buy a head for one of the new TT .15s I own, should the dieselized .10 not provide sufficient power.

If this Cub proves to be too large for the .10, does anyone have any suggestions for other aircraft that might benefit from the use of a dieselized .10? TIA

Ed your 15 size cub will be perfect with the diesel be about equiv to the 15 Glow I flew my VMAR cub 48 span whicj was orginally
designed for a geared 400 brushed electric motor for 2 years with the FP10 and Bobs head. I was doing things that cubs are not designed for and it met its demise when I snapped the wing I have an other one (same one) that I can transfer the engine, firewall
mount etc to it and get it together pretty quick its on the diesel post maybe a year ago??

I just got a K and B 20 with Bobs head from him He went over the whole thing redid the head which was abused and its going into my thunder tiger Lazy cub about a 50 inch span hugh chord about a foot this is considered a 25 glow model

Thanks for the reply, Martin.

What kind of fuel tanks and fuel line are you using for the small diesels?

A 4 oz tank is more than enough use tygon or neoprene tubings the stuff in the hardware store for gas weed eaters works fine and cheap
you need a gas stopper for the tank not the silicon one that comes with the glow tank sullivan or dubrow makes one $1.35 martin

I ordered a card of diesel conversion kits for Sullivan tanks years ago. I still have most of them untouched. It will be nice to put them to use.

My question was more of a question regarding very flexible, small diameter fuel lines for small Diesel engines. The Tygon that I have used is so stiff that I doubt that the clunk will follow the fuel around the tank.

I like doing sinister things with Cubs too. My last Cub (CGM) was covered with trans red Monokote, both on wings and fuselage, with the sheeting on the wing covered with white Monokote. It had a white cowl and the tip of the vertical fin and rudder were white. All color interfaces had 3/16" black striping tape applied and sealed with clear water based polyurethane. I even had the decal of the Cub bear, as provided by CGM, applied to the white area of the vertical fin. I would then procede to the field and place my Cub next to whatever group of Cubs I could find. Without fail, nearly every Cub owner would approach me and ask me what kind of model it was. Even the guys flying a CGM Cub in traditional or military colors. <G>

When I told them, many would hiss and make the sign of the cross with their fingers. You should have heard them when I flew it. "CUBS DON"T FLY LIKE THAT!"

It would be even more fun with a Dieselized smaller Cub.

Thanks for the tip, Martin.

I usually run about a 4 oz. tank when using an OS.32F-H in a fun fly model. Usually, five to seven or eight minutes is enough for me these days.

I was thinking about a 2 oz. tank for the small Diesel engines. I'll bet I could still get 15 to 20 minute flights with that little amount of fuel with ease.

Flexible fuel line for small engines and tanks has always been problematic for me. I like my small models to fly as well as the large ones. It hasn't happened yet because of rigid fuel line. I must keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

I was asking about locating diesel fuel in Canada the other day or making my own. No one could really help.
I am having a hard time getting ether. I have a friend going down to Seattle next week. Anyone know of a model store handy in Seattle who sells diesel?
