Default Dang...

Mr. Cheapskate (me) just ordered a brand spanking new Enya .15 R/C Diesel from England.

As most of you know, long before me, probably, my memory is akin to scrambled eggs these days, so I'll just run by some names and maybe you guys can figure out where I ordered it from - Steve's servos n' thangs and another guys name - what's a Ripmax?

Seriously, this old f__t finally sprung for another real diesel. I'm still going to order some conversion heads from Bob though.

I have ran a friend's OS .91 Davis Dieselized engine and my own OS .32F-H Davis Dieselized engine in R/C mode. Both ran fine, But, for some reason that I cannot explain, I tend to favor Diesels in the .049 - .25 size range. Mostly around .10 to .15. It is odd. I own a BME 50cc engine, a couple of OS 1.60FX engines, an Evolution 26GT, some MVVS gassers, Zenoahs 23 - 62, ST G2300 - so it isn't as though I'm afraid of larger engines. It's just that when it comes to Diesels, I like the little guys.

Hopefully, my little stinker will be on its way here soon. This is kind of like announcing a birth...

Hi

Sounds like Steve Webb Models to me-I know he is a UK distributor of Enyas.

Ripmax is one of the bigger model importers/distributors here in the UK-They run a very impressive display team around the shows. The 'Max' came fron the founder Max Coote (now sadly deceased), not sure where the 'Rip' came from.

I also think diesels are better in the smaller sizes-once you have the knack they are easier to operate than glows & more reliable. Better for sport/scale FF & RC models due to their ability to swing large props at low revs.

I do have a couple of PAW .29's & they are very impressive beasts-easy to start & unstoppable (literally!) unless the fuel runs out.

And don't you just love the smell?!! (the rest of the family don't seem to agree though!)

Cheers!
Mark

ED I Have a ripmax coyote motor glider Electric when Paul Landels came accross the pond a couple of months ago he got me one
not available here it is getting a small diesel rather than the 400 electric motor that came with it You will be quite happy with the Enya
Just engines carries them (Enya) now I got the 11 and 25 (Had a senior moment and should have gotten the 15 engine are the same size as the 15 They are "works of art" very nicely finished even the carb body almost has a polished finish, but more important they just purrrrrrr. Hobbsy has a post back here on the site on the 25 numbers and I think I have one on the 11
I just did a static test on my little Lazy bee that has a TT GP10 Davis head so I can fly it this weekend (the TT10 and OS10) use the
same Davis head The OS10 is going into my little vmar cub#2 The first one snapped a wing when I was doing a hard pylon type
turn showing off to the electric boys.I flew it like a cub should be flown for 2 years before the hot rod stunt. As posted before they
were amazed at the power of the little 10 and lack of noise (much quieter then the geared electrics that sounded like flying routers)
The MVVS 15D was also run in a AK models Cub, ready to roll ( Fly)
FUEL<<>> Ed you can burn Davis ABC or Plane fuel It is a BB engine and the engine could care less have run both in my enya 11,25
AND get the head from davis for that TT10 you will be quite happy (every needs an other diesel) martin

Thanks for the words of encouragement, everyone. We Dieseleers must stick together - well, maybe not that close. The wife just said that was supposed to be stink together, not stick together. She knows about Diesel fuel and its odor.

I was thinking the same thing about converting some of the electric ARFs to small Diesel power. Hobby Lobby has a few old timer look-alikes that would do the job, I'll bet.

Now to build up my balsa bin's inventory again. This size model makes me want to scratch build. I miss doing that. There's nothing as satisfying as watching your own designs fly about. Especially when powered by a model Diesel engine.

For those outside the USA, the "easy" button is used as a TV advertisement gimmick for an office products company.

The "Scene" is an Emperor (I assume) on a horse, along with his wizard and some soldiers. Hoards of attacking men on horseback are attacking, with swords waving. The Emperor nods to the wizard who opens a wooden box and pushes the "easy" button. A protective stone wall appears from out of the ground...only the Emperor is stuck alone on the side with the attackers. He says something and the subtitle shows, "Dang!"

Sorry if this caused any confusion.

Ripmax was founded by Max Coote and C.A.Rippon - known familiarly as 'Rip' to everyone. Hence Rip/Max = Ripmax
