I called Bob Davis this morning and as usual 100 things going on at once up there, his machinist out with the gout, training a new office person so after he "unloaded" This is the story one of the guys had just bought an OS46AX and Bobs head, I guess he had problems called Bob, worked out the settings and well, pleased is an understatement. running a 12x6 wood prop (brand??) it clocked 12000 this is better than an Irvine 53, Yes I did it again an AX46 with Bobs head is on the way should have it by the weekend, As soon as broken in its going in my appache 2 or hotrod which both have irvine 53s in now, quick change, clamp up metal mount
I also brought up the Lavona cell thing in 4 strokes, He said that he had one of the first Saito 80s which at that time was a bored out
65 the compression was over 15 to1 so he made up a lavona cell. the engine as glow as not good per Clarence Lee over compressed
And worked it worked well with the cell, now the Hitch the 4 strks now do not have that high a compression it would work overcompressed and very rich
(run) but not the way to get any preformance at all. He is well aware of increasing compression by milling down the jug, then you
would have a cam lift problem with the valves hitting the piston. Of course with lots of machining , working the cam, modifying the head it can be done
But as far as a just unscrew the plug and pop in the Lavona cell not reality, Of course there may be that 1 in a 100 that may have
a high enough compression but it would be a quirk So davis diesel not exploring this as a product martin
SO waiting for for AX46 and head to come martin

Now that would solve a problem all Saito has to do is make some that way make a lavona cell instant 4 strk diesel no fuss martin
