OS 1.60 Diesel Conversion???
Hi,
I have an O.S. 1.60 (2 stk) and am thinking about trying a Diesel conversion from Davis Diesel. I am very pleased with the engine as it is except for the cost of Glowfuel. Also, from the little reading I've done it sounds like it will turn a bigger prop and reduce the overall noise level.
Has anyone tried this conversion? How did it work? Any thing to watch for?
Thx.

You should have bought a Saito 4 stroke. It will run quiet, turn a bigger prop, and use much less fuel All without peeling the cheap nickel liner from the cylinder [:@]

They only need to be a little leaner than the glow settings and a prop of about 30% more load, I use 50% more in some cases. Your 1.60 should turn a 16x8 three blade in the 9,100 to 9,500 rpm range with the carb about 75% open. You can also use a smaller volume muffler. It may turn a 16x10 three blade the well too.

Davis is very partial toOS conversions and overy 20 years of making heads for them this proves out OS is one of the best conversions out there less fuel-- more power-quieter period martin
