Os .61sx heli engine

Bought box of parts cheap during the spring, which included heli engines and other stuff.... Among these was an os .61sx in terrible shape. Ring was broken and piston seized. It set on my shelf for 2 months before i decided to open it up. Boiled in anti-freeze for a couple of hours and dis assembled it.
Here it is 2 months after and the engine found it's way to my work table where i have had the diesel 'bug' for a good while. One thing lead to another and, you guessed it, i'm a day away from finishing it up from finally running diesel through it.

This is what i did:
1, shaved .005in from the top of cylinder sleeve.
2, spun a new ring from t6 aluminum.
3, spun a new aluminum flat head.
4, installed new 2in spinner on crank.
5, mixed new batch mmo diesel mix.
6, assembled everything carefully.
7, primed engine after mounting to bench.
8, spun engine with e-starter.
9, smiled big after it started........
10, finishing the carb setting tonight.....all from another man's scrap, and paid less than $30.00 for it.....

Aluminum ring? Interesting, wonder about longevity. I suppose they are easy enough to make spares if needed.

Rings

Aspeed:
yes, i spun the ring from a t6 aluminum round stock. The issue with it is the aluminum doesn't have the spring tension that steel does. When i use with diesel fuel the oil fills the gaps, although i am still testing different mixtures.
For getting the engine for less than $30.00, i still came out good.....
