CS Replicas
 

The first engine shown has an Original Oliver Tiger on the left and a CS Oliver replica on the right (with the prop). I had a bit of trouble with the needle on the replica in that it was off center. That is, the taper rode the wall of the spraybar instead of being centered. This posed somewhat erratic needle settings. This was easily fixed and the engine runs are powerful and easy starting, albeit a bit wet out the front bearing.

The second engine is a Silver Swallow, which I THINK is made by CS. This too was easy starting and of medium power. I bought it used on *bay.

I have read of good and bad experiences with replicas. What's yours?

I had two of the CS Olivers. I flew one for a while and was fairly well pleased with it. The other was NIB. Both ended up on ****. I gave performance figures for the one I had run. it performed similar to what I read in an Aeromodeller review of one of the original Oliver models. Interestingly enough, I got a considerably higher price for the one I had run than for the NIB.

A couple of my buddies in Scotland use Oliver 15's for nostalgia C/L combat. They interchange between real and CS Olivers and have a lot of respect for the CS engines.

When they were over here a couple of years ago they mentioned the CS Olivers wer going for $120 in the UK and they were backordered for six months.

I called up James and he said he had thirty of them on the shelf. We gave him the credit card info and had three of them delivered to my house in three days at around $60.00 apiece.

Needless to say my UK friends were delighted with the way we can make things happen here.

If you like Olivers, don't be afraid to try the CS Ollie...it's a good product.

Not surprised. The used one was a known, the NIB is an unknown...of course, it may have just been the particular day. :)

Edit: Forgot to ask, is CS still in business? I read somewhere, some time back, that they had stopped making engines. I hope that was incorrect info.
