Cold weather and engine behaviour...

Hi folks,

Just a question. I was flying my self made conversion OS .46 today in below freezing point H2O weather and I noticed that the engine had trouble pickin up after longer (4 sec.) periods of idle. I did put some paper around the head and the slow pickup disappeared. I guess thats normal behaviour ?
(engine too cold)

Now what is a normal temperature range for a dieselhead during operation ?

Cherio !

Frank that is normal in cold weather by blocking off some of the fins with anything paper , aluminum foil it retains the heat and does not
over ccol even full size diesel trucks have shutters that can restrict air to the radiator in cold weather so they do not super cool
