Ya, you can leave it in because lipos don't get hot while charging. If they do something is wrong with them.

If you can hook the balance plug to the charger without taking it out then leave it in.

Is you are all freaked out and think your lipo is a fire bomb then take it out and put it in a metal can.

Lipos charged correctly are harmless.

With all due respect to TEX...

the batteries store a tremendous amount of energy, and can start a fire
very easily if components or diodes are crossed.

Charge your battery's and see if they get warm or not.
What happens if they get bad... ?
What about a crash ??? and if the battery gets dinged and internals get crossed.

Now I'm not as experienced as TEX... I'm a newbie and that's for sure.

But if I were you, and without being paranoid about this whole thing, I'd
charge your batteries with the charger and battery on top of brick.
You will find countless stories about mishaps with batteries and chargers.

And not to "diss" the wonderful people from China making all our "toys"....
Who ya going to sue when your kid gets shrapneled from an exploding battery
or your house burns down when you ran out to get a quick six pack while the
battery was charging on top of a pile of newspapers.

Just a thought from a newbie that has already seen his receiver catch fire from
a motor that had the diode reversed.... and another thought...
you know kids....
They like to put things in their mouths... while a nine volt battery is a fun taster buzzz...
anybody suck on the leads that come out of the lipo's... ???

Guys , I thank you both for your input and info. My cocern with the lipo battery is that the outside seems so soft that even the bands that hold it on seem to deform the outside and it is so dificult to take put and put back in, because of injuries ive had to my hands, I feel like I will damage it worse continuasly removing and reinstalling it.

You will find, I think, that using the rubber bands with the battery turned sideways easier to install the battery.
If you take your rubber bands, and knot them at each end, you will have created a small loop on each end.
Putting the loops on the hooks on each side.
I often use forceps, most specifically Kelly type (that's just a style of forceps if you do a google image search but you probably already know what I mean), to install the rubber bands, and other things like popping off the connectors from their ball links. People also use needle nose pliers, with one end on the ball and the other end on the loop to pop off the links. I actually now use a ball link pliers to pop the links apart... they are not so good for putting the links back together, but usually thats not a problem... if they don't go back on easily try rotating a half turn. The ball link pliers I use are HMXR4858 .. search the net. I paid $16.99 .

I have arthritis, tendinitis.... whatever... so I can sympathize with the small parts and manipulating the battery scenario.

You can, as TEX said, with the lipo's, leave the battery installed and charge them there... but at least for the first couple of times charge them off the helicopter and see how they warm up or not. But definitely don't charge on top of a pile of newspapers and anything easily flammable.

Thanks ROB for all your help. Its been extreamly helpfull. I see by yor discription of the batt. instalation that the folks at exceed put the batt. retaining ruberbands around the frame of the choper so you have to thread the battery through it instead of useing the hooks on the frame. I also noticed on the exploded diagram that you sent me (thank you very much, now I know what Im looking at) that the receiver should be laying flat. Mine is sitting on its side. I dont know if that makes a differance but I think I mite put it the way it shows in the diagram. Once again I thank you for all your help, it is greatly appreciated!

I have two Eagle 50s... they both have the receiver installed vertically...
Somebody is going to have to correct me... but I think there is a mini gryscope in the receiver.
More expensive helicopters have their own dedicated gyroscope mounted else where...
as such... with the gyroscope in the receiver...
There might be a dedicated positioning of the receiver... ie vertical not flat.
I haven't tested flat.. but in the vertical position.. for example, if you connect everything but the main rotor...
Give it some throttle so the tail rotor spins... and rotate the helicopter... and the tail rotor will decrease or
accelerate in accordance to which direction you are rotating the helicopter.

I guess it shouldn't matter if you lie it flat... because if you were to do a barrel roll then the gryro
would be in a different position... although it would be still relative the helicopter.
I really don't know what I'm talking about here... somebody will have to chime in and
"es-splane aul des ting" to me about the gryro in the helicopter and it's positioning..
